Tech Master Auto Repair The prices on the parts was higher than the repair. Origional parts from parts house priced lower. Saint Petersburg Florida
My car stalled on Interstate 275 and I had to pull off of the internet to a side street. I walked 10 blocks before I located a mechanics station and that was techmaster. I had to pay 35.00 cash up front to have the car towed to the station that was okay. I at first was told it would cost me 337.00 to fix the distributor cap on the car. Then the guy at the desk blinked nervously and said he had made a mistake. I was then told it would cost 743.64 to fix the problem.
When I got home, I checked with the Auto Zone parts center to see about the parts that were ordered and found out that I had been overcharged on the parts. Here's how it fleshed out:
Auto Zone Ignition Distributor their price= $230.00 tech mastersprice=$
399.47
Auto Zone/Duralast/wells=their price=$15.99, tech masters price=62.96
Auto Zone/Distributor rotor=their price=$6.00 tech masters price=23.98
Auto Zone/Cap & Rotor=$36.00(extended) couldn't figure out this charge at all.
Auto Zone/Plug wire/set=$28.00 , their price $75.58
The whole job cost me 743.64
I feel that I was ripped off but, I was told the f.t.c. might be able to do something about this.
I'm hoping to find out more information as I go.
My advice, Carry road service and, avoid this place like the plague.
