What a horrible learning environment. I am and have been disgusted with these crooks. First and foremost these are not truthful people. I was enrolled here in the I.T. program through a rehab program and given a start date. It was apparent to me early on that time wise I was not ready for this program. No problem they said, we will give you a leave of absence and you can continue when you return. Well, they tell me I am done 5 days before my original ending date. They LIED to me.

The only way anyone could complete this program is if they went there every day full time. Forget about this place if you have to work during the day. I have been a desktop repair person for over 15years and could not do this program the way it is laid out. There is far too much material to master in the 4 weeks they give you for each course. There is no "hands on learning" here, zero. They give you a book and an account and you must find your own way. The so called on-line labs do not function 99% of the time and if they do they creep along at such a horrid pace, you will just give up. It feels like working on an old 1200baud modem most of the time.

Most of the equipment here is WAY past it's prime!!! This junk should have been retired like 8 years ago. In this day of 64bit operating systems and multi-GHz PC's, they are still using Pentium 2's here. It's 2000-freaking-10 people!!!!  With the number of new people I saw there, they should have been upgrading something all the time. I never saw a new anything there. I brought my own PC and even that New state of the art machine was brought to it's knees by everyone having to share a single wireless access point. The entire site is run from a cable modem!!!!!

Do yourself a favor, use your money on something else. Do not go here!!!!!! This place is a waste of time, energy and effort. Don't believe me? Take of tour of this technology museum. They hire new staff every week, no one wants to work here. Can you blame them?

I have taken several courses at Techskills and when you start they give you a spreadsheet of when you start and a week by week breakdown of where you should be. Not only that but they do give you a grace period and give you additional time when needed. From what I understand they tell you one week per unit but they actually give you ten days to complete it which is fair. I wonder which course you took. I as well have IT experience although its nowhere near 15 years and I am actually able to accelerate through the course due to my experience. The only way that I could see someone not finishing it is due to not applying the 15 hours per week that they tell you to do. It's school at the end of the day and you have to apply yourself. You can't build real world skills doing five hours per week. Effort = Results.

As for hands on labs compared to some other schools they are pretty good. Although I agree that there are times that the server can be slow but you get to do it from home so I can't complain. You sacrifice a little bit of quality for a great convenience of getting to do the labs from the comfort of your own home and I don't have to worry about getting a sitter for the kids. In my campus the equipment is fair and none of the students complain. Their computers are better than mine so at the end of the day I appreciate them. I have not had any issues with their computers on campus. Just at home when you connect to their server but anyone knows that there is a lag when you remote in to any server so keep that in mind. If you don't want to deal with the lag then do your labs on campus.

I on the other hand do see new equipment at my Campus which is the Tampa campus. I have attended the school for six months and the staff has been the same from day one so I am not sure about other campuses but that is with any job. You have your normal attrition and at the end of the day everyone knows teachers/instructors are not exactly the highest paid and they are training students to make double what they make. I am sure they make good contacts and get good job opportunities and loyalty nowadays only takes you so far when good money is calling.

I see new students come in and they are given a demo and a tour so they know how the program works before enrolling. My advice is anytime you have an issue with any company see the management team and try to get something done. In my business courses I was always taught that you have to be a part of the solution not the problem. I agree with this student though take a tour and see for yourself. There are many competitors out there that charge twice as much and don't care. They are a small campus but they care about their students and I will take that any day over a bigger school that you are just a number. Here they all know you by name and make you feel at home.
