In 2005 I signed up with TechSkills in San Antonio Texas.  I was only interested in A plus certification.  I wasn't to educated on Tech Schools and the scams they run at the time.  They talked me into a private loan with SallieMae which would cover 4 Certifications which they stated were college credited.  That was the first lie.  Loan was close to $8000.  I completed only one certification and that following summer I was involved an a car accident and disabled.  TechSkills stated you can freeze the school account and come back and finish at a later date.  Almost a year I was out of work and after a long rehabilitation to recover I contacted the school left several messages to call me back regarding the frozen account.  I went down to the school finally and they were gone.  They had closed down.  Never did they contact me nor my Mom Co-Signer regarding the shut down.  They never called me to say "hey we are closing down and are reimbursing you for the certifications not completed.  They were paid $4900 from SallieMae and never returned any of it.  I'm in a fight with SallieMae and Navient over the loan I am still paying at this time, which is another headache.  I threatened to sue SallieMae for giving all the tuition away like that,  They should of paid the school one certification at a time.  SalieMae also claims they mailed me a tuition check for $2900 in 01/01/2005 and I never received it, nor was I made aware of it until after I threatened to sue.  TechSkills was a fraudulent school.  They don't even teach, you teach yourself and that made no sense. Texas Workforce Commision is letting TechSkills get away with this and I can't understand how our system allows Technical Schools to rip off students like this.  I am looking for others to help me in getting back my tuition money legally.  I've invested so many sleepless nights over this and I am not going to stop until something is done.  Techskils sold campuses off and there is a few still running.
