Teddy Stout Construction nothing but delays, excuses and a sloppy job when they show. Contractor Rip-off
Attention potential homebuyers of Warren County, DO NOT purchase a Teddy Stout home! They are in the business for fast money! At first our home buying experience seemed great, the house frame was solid and workmanship seemed respectable. But as soon as we went to closing and they had their check, it all went downhill from there. It has been like pulling teeth to try and get various areas fixed/completed.
Each time I call it takes days before I hear back and when I express my frustration to their secretary she give me attitude! They ALWAYS have excuses and drag out each issue. Mind you our requests do not require rocket science resolution. When I call to complain that a contractor has not shown up, they get defensive and then when the contractors do show up, most of them do a quick and sloppy job. We had to wait over a month for our window screens. Also it has taken months for damaged parts to be replaced, such as a bedroom doorknob (which we still do not have)!
Daryl Stout forgot to bring our keys to closing and said she would come by later, but never did. The first couple of days and nights we couldn't lock our house. Finally feeling unsafe and with no response from the builder, we went to Home Depot and purchased all new doorknobs and locks!
Every area that you typically struggle with your builder has taken unusually long and some areas are still not being taken care of because we know they do not want to spend any money.
This is not the first house we have purchased. I thought we had a difficult time with our previous builder but Teddy Stout makes Ryland look impeccable!

This is not a rebuttal, just a different experience from another customer of Stout Construction (I am not an employee or relative). Starting in August 2009 Stout Construction built a new home for us on one of their lots. They were very receptive to our design ideas and built the home the way we wanted it to be. Like any new home, there were little things that we noticed after moving in, and the Stouts were very responsive in correcting the small problems that we found. Even though we have been in the house for two years, the Stouts recently reshingled the roof after we had issues with shingles coming loose.
I cannot speak to the circumstances that led to the original ripoff report, but I suspect that the complainer had other problems of their own that are not stated. The complaint is completely contrary to our experience with Stout Constuction and I would take it with the proverbial grain of salt.

Hi my name is Daryl Stout, owner of Teddy Stout Construction, I am writing in response to a negative comment about my company. I would like people to know that my husband and I have been in business for 23 years and have built many homes in Warren County. We both take alot of pride in our company and our community. We build homes of great quality and have many happy customers to prove this. I regret that this homeowner feels this way and thought she had to result to a source of this nature. If you contact any of the references that I can give you, you would find out that we do take pride in our workmanship and have used many of our subcontractors for 15- 20 years. Our Company is highly recommened. We ask that you don't let this negative comment of one person influence your decision to use our company. Please feel free to contact local building officials, realtors, or any of our previous home buyers.
