Complaint Review: teleprotect

On 04/18/02 I recieved an e-mail in at my hotmail address. It was advertising Government reposessed and plice impound vechiles for $200.00, $0, down and financing availble,with it the 1-800-853-8991Ext.817 to call for further details. I called that number and spoke to a man who asked me some question including if I had a passport since I told him that I did not have a drivers license, he said someone could purchase the car for me.

He then asked for my account number, I asked him what he wanted my account number for. He stated that I had to prove that I had a checking account number to qualify to attend the actions so I gave it to him. He promised to send me a listing of auctions in my area with 72 hours. To date I have not received such a listing. Nothing was discussed neither in the E-mail or when I called the number about money, No amount was discussed, no payment date was discussed. There is no way I would agree to paying $99.89 for a listing of auctions.

On 05/22 I check my account balance and learnt that $99.89 was debited from my account, since I had not authorized such a payment I asked the bank who was it paid to? They said they would have to research it which they did and charged me $5.00 for. My money was paid to Teleprotect 1-800-414-8111via Bank one of NA Bedford Texas.I reported it as fraud to my bank subsequently. I have not be credited for my money. I called the 1-800-853-8991 and spoke to a MR. Jim Johnson who informed me that I should speak to Mr. ken Shaw. I called 20 times and left messages for Mr. Shaw to call me back since I could never get to speak to him. he has not returned my call.This is fraud!
