On 9/29/04, unauthorized charges were billed to my QWEST statement by TELESEVEN LLC for a DA Assist call to 702-555-1212 for $4.33 plus $1.65 USF CARRIERADMIN FEE.
Contacted company representative at 1-800-944-9646 after a 20 min hold. Rep finally agreed to cancel the $4.33 charge when I insisted I had not used any directory assist to Las Vegas, NV or any other area. Representative also stated that the $1.65 Universal Services Fee (USF CarrierAdmin fee) was a mandatory charge approved by the gov't for school libraries. Possibility that this company may be linked to a 1)Phone survey claiming to be political poll regarding who I was going to vote for, etc. Questioned during that time as to age group, income range, etc, but no personal information requested. 2) Phone call from person claiming to be from Kerry-Edwards campaign seeking contributions (became suspect of authenticity due to aggressive tactics of solicitor.)
