I hired this company Telstar Investigation Inc to find information on my exboyfriend because he took my car I bought us and disappeared. The owner I talked to was nice in the begining, then he pawned me off to this young girl which she was also nice. I met her at my job she collected $600 cash from me so they can get the information I needed. But she went on vacation and I was dealing with this young boy which made me feel as if I was the criminal instead of the victim. He was rude and cocky acting. They shouldn't treat their customers like this. The customer service was great in the begining but that was because they wanted my money. When the girl got back from vacation she called me back to check on how things were going I was furious! I still didn't get the information I paid for. They had the nerve to tell me I need to pay $500 more. I said for what? If you are smart you will not call this company at all, they don't treat their customers right and they accussed me of things I didn't do and then they said I owe them more money. This is insane!I have never been treated they way they have treated me. I lost $600 for nothing and I am not paying them a dime more.

For someone who claims to be educated, you clearly lack the ability to infer from the anonymous complainants criminal history (not just traffic violations) that she has exhibited poor judgment, obsessive tendencies, and erratic behavior. Why is this important? Well... coupled with the fact that we were given a false address, along with an ever-changing story as to why she wanted us to locate this individual, we came to the sensible conclusion that we needed to terminate the investigation. This criminal history is not fabricated, and it was fortuitous that we were able to find information that confirmed our suspicions of this client. Making annoying phone calls is clearly indicative of someone that has the potential to stalk, or even harass someone. Furthermore, there is no excuse for driving on a suspended license; clearly she decided to exhibit reckless disregard for the law.
As an investigative agency, we failed to vet this client appropriately. She came to us in emotional distress, and was quite convincing, however, her story began to evolve over time, and she began to exhibit a sense of vitriol, confusion, and entitlement. This is not uncommonwe sometimes get duped by clientele who initially appear to have legitimate investigative needs, but in reality have scores to settle, a thirst for revenge, or some other malicious cause for information.
If the client has financial issues, that needs to be discussed with her CPA, and she should probably hold off on hiring an agency and paying a handsome retainer. When a client hires us to do an investigation, we immediately begin focusing on finding facts pertinent to the case. In the case of this anonymous complainant, lets just call her Kim for the sake of this rebuttal, we immediately did database searches on relatives of the subject, the subject himself,, and began staking out potential living quarters (shelters in this case). The surveillance aspect involved 2-person surveillance on the subject who was employed in a tightly secured premise for a construction company. The premises were situated in a location that makes it difficult to perform a successful vehicular surveillance during rush hour, not to mention that there were numerous cameras on site which were monitored by the receptionist. Kim was unwilling to listen to the difficulty and obstacles involved in performing the surveillance. Sometimes, surveillance is a matter of luck. You simply cannot predict when you will be able to successfully I.D. a subject and begin trailing them. Furthermore, if the subject has a "lead foot," then the chances of losing him are sufficiently greater, which was the other issue in this case.
For a spectator that clearly is not familiar with the intricacies of this case, we find your allegations that a service was not provided to be offensive and derogatory. We routinely meet with clients to provide closure to cases and present all evidence collected. Every investigation is conducted with the utmost ethical standards, and there is not a single minute unaccounted for which we bill. Clearly, in this case, it was made impossible to do so because Kim was so adamant about finding an ex-boyfriend for reasons other than her stated purpose (possibly to stalk, harass, posing a potential imminent danger to him). We provided optimal service until the point when she began changing the intent of the investigation (from a stolen vehicle to monies owed), treating us in an abusive fashion, and making demands that we sell information to her. Our investigations swiftly began changing the target of the investigation to the complainant, and discovered that her credibility was tainted, and some of our presumptions indeed were true. We will NOT jeopardize the privacy, well-being, or security of an individual on behalf of a career criminal like Kim. She had no legal legitimate purpose to hire us she felt that we could be manipulated so she could be the end user of critical personal information.
Our Company has many satisfied customers. Coincidentally, the clientele that are the happiest, are also the ones that indeed have a legitimate legal issue, whether it be the welfare of a child, the activities of a spouse, or the possibility that a person on disability is potentially malingering.
I am sorry that you believe that investigators wheel and deal like attorneys. The reality of the matter is that there are striking contrasts between the two professions. Investigators are in the business of finding FACTS we are unbiased, objective fact finders. Nobody on our staff is a crook, and if indeed they were a crook, they would not have been credentialed by the Private Securities Division of VA, which requires an extensive criminal background check. However, we can safely assume that an individual that runs numerous toll booths (as did Kim) without paying, can be characterized to be a crook.
Furthermore, we are elated that you have decided to look elsewhere for an investigative agency to hire. Clearly, it appears that you may have much in common with Kim and may be trying to look for a firm that can be manipulated into selling information to you. We appreciate legitimate inquiries from people with honest concerns. Furthermore, I would recommend that you set aside your biases and step back and evaluate a situation more objectively in the future. I am sorry you may have had bad experiences with law enforcement, or attorneys in the past, but you should know better than to lump all in one category.
We are sorry that you have decided to remain anonymous along with Kim. In any case, our Company attorneys are being forwarded these messages for review, as we believe they are slanderous in nature. Telstar Inc. also is deeply troubled that RippoffReport.com has allowed these slanderous posts from Kim. We will begin exploring every legal avenue.
Best,
Michael

Looks like a lot of non-sense

You ripped the woman off, then defend yourself by giving us a whole breakdown on her driving record. Anyone who reads all of that non-sense will clearly notice that you fabricated much more then there really is. She hired you because someone STOLE her car. One the charges you have listed was for driving without insurance. I'm sure she would admit that it is wrong to drive a car without insurance but she gave you $600, my guess is she didn't have the money to pay her car insurance or means to get to work since someone had her car, duh.......................
Besides, what the hell does any of that non-sense have to do with why you took money for a service in which you didn't provide that service. I hate to tell the young woman this but when you deal with attorneys, private investigators, police, etc. they are all crooks. It's about the money, nothing more. Years ago, when you needed the police, you called them and they came out, difused the situation, and did what they could to help. Now, they will arrest a husband or wife for throwing a crumpled piece of paper at the other, which they can do, just so they can get paid at least 4 hours of overtime.
It's what kind of world we are living in. Someone like me, educated, has experienced some situations in life, and can read between the lines.
These guys are crooks and I personally appreciate your bringing that to my attention since I was possibly looking to obtain their services. LOL. What a bunch of deceitful crooks. Unfortunately, young lady, you are dealing with a so called 'company' that is more educated than what I am guessing you are, and they know just what to say and how to 'cover their a*s'.
I could figure the whole thing out in their first two sentences. They didn't even try and defend their position as to how they did, in fact, do what they were paid to do. They just started out on your driving record.

Dishonest Client w/Extensive Criminal History
#4UPDATE Employee
Wed, September 23, 2009
Before addressing these frivolous claims, Telstar would like the public to be aware of this anonymous complainants criminal history in the context of this matter. The anonymous complainant has engaged in illicit behavior in numerous jurisdictions w/in the past few years:
Loudoun County General District Court
Charge Code Section Case Type
ANNOYING PHONE CALLS 18.2-429 Misdemeanor
Arlington County General District Court
Charge
Driving on a Suspended License B.46.2-301 Misdemeanor
Altered License Plate 46.2-722 Traffic
Disregard Red Light 46.2-833 Traffic
Fairfax County General District Court
Charge
Speeding
064/45
Charge
No Drivers License
Charge
HOV Violation
Also, please let it be known that the complainant has a court date scheduled for Oct. 6 for failing to pay numerous toll booths in Fairfax County . A photo of her vehicle was captured, and a court date is soon approaching.
Our firm was not surprised after having discovered the extensive criminal history of the complainant. Our firm makes NO excuses for obeying the law. The individual who made this complaint has desired to address this in a public forum, rather than in a confidential meeting, thus we will remind her of our contractual agreements, policies, and documentary practices.
First and foremost, this case is being analyzed to pass on to Virginia Law Enforcement. There were serious laws broken by the anonymous complainant. Our investigators realized soon after being assigned to the case that the anonymous complainant was indeed obsessed with the subject of the investigation, and exhibited what many would consider a fatal attraction. The complainant misled our firm. Her intent in hiring our firm evolved as the case continued, which prompted us to begin questioning her motives. The complainant possessed neurotic behavior, and was cunable to maintain a dialogue with any investigator on our staff. The anonymous complainant was abrupt, dictatorial in her demands, and possessed an angry, erratic disposition. When a decision was made to not supply the complainant with personal details that had no relevance to the case, she became hysteric. The complainant refused to answer her phone, yet would call our Company and leave numerous messages (some 5-minutes or more in duration), which were hostile in nature, and replete with obscenities. Our firm soon came to a consensus decision that it would be best to record these messages because of their provocative nature. The recorded messages will remain on file with other pertinent documents related to this case if there are ever any charges against the complainant.
It soon became clear to our staff that there was no desire for an investigation, but rather a need to stalk by extension. Our firm does not and will not SELL INFORMATION. We conduct investigations. When we determine we have been hired by a stalker, we cease to continue the investigation. Afterwards, we make an appraisal of the possible damage that has been incurred; in other words, we assess the amounts of critical information we may have been manipulated into providing someone whose intent is malicious.
We will not hesitate to forward anything pertaining to this case that is of a criminal nature to VA Law Enforcement. Because the anonymous complainant gave us a false home address, we will be forced to provide the Sheriff with her place of employment so we may serve her with a warrant in debt.
In further compliance with the laws of the state of Virginia , we feel a legal obligation to contact the State of Virginia Nursing Credentialing Board . The bizarre and erratic behavior we have observed, along with her undistinguished criminal history, should be of importance to the Board in judging whether she is fit to care for patients. Our firm believes that the Nursing Board needs to have a greater awareness of her disposition, and her suitability in properly caring for patients.
Our firm accounts for all the time spent conducting an investigation. Our investigative staff take meticulous notes, and compile all notes into a comprehensive report which we discuss with the client once a case has been successfully closed. We conduct investigations in the most efficient manner, and do our best to quickly get the documentary evidence needed to build a case.
The complainant on numerous occasions requested that we run tags on vehicles that the subject was driving. As mentioned before, we do not sell information, especially when we suspect that the information is going to someone who is not of sound mind, and who wants to abuse it to potentially stalk an ex-boyfriend.
We strongly recommend that people who hire an investigative agency do so with a legitimate legal purpose. Please do not deceive an agency so they can supply critical information (as did this anonymous complainant) to you for reasons other than your original stated intended purpose.
Once again, we hope that Ripoffreport.com adopts strategies to screen some of these complainants and urge them to contact our team to investigate this matter. We have had only 1 complaint in the past 3-years of business (see Better Business Bureau), and will continue to provide exceptional service to customers with legitimate investigative needs.
