Terry Love Plumbing - terrylove.com Deceptive Do It Yourself DIY Forum, with much Dis-information Bothell Washington
www.terrylove.com
Plumbing Forum discussions
TerryLove's DIY forums, what a joke, he has been reported on other forums as terry love forums of dis-information. Terry is a plumber in the Seattle WA area, he should go back to plumbing. His site is so biased in many areas that you need to be very careful to take any of the advice given there, or just do as I did, don't go there. Terry Likes the Toto toilet, OK... but he slams every other brand, even though posters praise many of them, he edits their post, and blots out the price they say they paid for a Toto toilet... why? He doesn't sell the Toto toilet on the internet, it must be because he's price gouging the people of the Seattle area. He edits many posts either as "Terry" or as "Reader Review", why... were the people not justified to post their opinions? The Consumer's Reports magazine recently rated toilets (August 2009), the American Standard brand came out as #1, with Toto coming in way down the list at #9, well Terry in all his wisdom spouts off that CR is never right on their ratings, and "he" as a plumber know best... what!
Pumps and Wells Forum
He has hired the company president of Cycle Stop Valves (CSV) to run his pump and wells forum, what a joke, this guy just deletes posts he doesn't like or puts his CSV in a bad light, or just tells truth about how this device will damage your pump and make you use 3 times as much electricity to pump your water. It will not stop your pump from cycling, and it will not save you any money, avoid it at all costs. He BANS anyone that points out the truth about his valve, just go there and read the posts, if the poster is listed as "Previous member" or "Guest" it is because "Valveman" has banned them, he has banned at least 10 posters, and one was a Professional Engineer who was very helpful at explaining how pump systems worked. He even banned one user "Speedbump" who changed from selling his valve to another company who would drop ship for him... nice guy! Don't believe anything from a poster named "Porky" he's just one of Valveman's employees.
Water Softener Forum, problems, installation and reviews
There's a guy here, named "Gary Slusser" who sell water conditioning equipment out of his motor home, and proudly announces it, he's posted a picture of it and the toybox with Jeep and it's a half a million dollar rig, how does he afford it, simple compare his prices with any of the companies that are doing business on the internet in the water softener arena, his prices are 25% more than anybody else's. He's also incorrect on many of his advice entries.
Electrical Forum discussions
Terry hired this guy by the name of "Joey Tedesco" to run this forum for a while, Joey decided to delete all the posting in this forum, and only after the outrage from many of his long time readers/posters did Terry get rid of this guy.
Bottom line, be careful of any advice you read in a forum, there is no control. And TerryLove's Forums are the worst of the lot because of Terry's attitude toward allowing the forum poster to advertise on his site, even though it is against his published:
"Terry Loves Plumbing & Remodel Forum Rules"
"Advertising: The purpose of Terry Loves Plumbing & Remodel Forums is to provide answers, not an advertising venue. Companies participating in a Forum discussion should provide specific answers to posted questions.."

I am not a plummer, and live in San Diego CA, am not related to the owner of that site nor do I know him or anyone that may work for him. I have been reading his site a little over 10 years on an off. I have not noticed anything bad or misleading while researching for my DIY needs. I did try the american standard toilet that Consumer reports touted and replaced it with a toto drake a few months later. I had a toto drake in another bathroom for about 7 years without issue and thought it was pretty awesome but was swayed by the consumer reports rating when remodling another bathroom. I love consumer reports, but sometimes they miss the mark, and they really missed it on that AS toilet. It didn't flush anywhere need a good as the Drake, my college age son soon taught me that. BTW, no one accepts a used toilet for refund, so it was a costly lesson learned. I am curious about the author of the report. Was he a salesperson for AS? Bill C

In response to the above post by Gary Slusser: The post "keep on doing what you do" Was posted on Terry's site by Terry Himself and I suspect, probably written by either him or Gary Slusser. Terry has admitted to posting it on his own site under the screen name "Guest" Why, Mr. Slusser want's to drag me into this whole thing I have no clue. However, it seems as though site activity there may be dwindling and perhaps this is an attempt to get some notice on the search engines. Mr. Slusser seems to want to blame me for all of his problems in dealing with site members and has even accused me of being the king pin in some sort of conspiracy based on revenge? I'm not sure what the revenge would be for though it is a shame that he has pretty much single handedly turned Terry's site into a carnival. At any rate, I wish them all happy holidays and like the above post says please "Keep on doing what you do"

The above post was copied and pasted here or at terrylove.com. The first link below (terrylove.com) proves that and exposes nhmaster by his own words to have an agenda based on revenge.
Above he denies having posted under various names etc., in the thread at the link below he admits as 'another voice' that he is wally hayes, peter griffin, etc.. He used the same IP numbers for each name yet above he says his computer was hacked and someone else used his nhmaster name. That is a lie.
I have been reading his posts that have attacked me for at least 18 months and IMO he has posted this report and the last post above while claiming to be someone else.

Terry Love's DIY forum, Oh my word, what a huge source of entertainment this site truly is. Between the self proclaimed experts like Gary Slusser and Valve man who both think that every word they type is the word of god himself, to the virtual non existence of any real or fair moderating or Terry himself having to edit close to 90% of the posts these two idiots make one wonders if there is any valuable information left. But who cares? It's far more fun to watch thread after thread degenerate into name calling antics and the inevitable banning of yet another member. I think we are up to 15 or 16 members now that have fallen to the Slusser axe. Apparently Terry and Gary are either related or Terry has been defending this dufus for so long now that he's afraid to do what he should have done a couple years ago and that's to get rid of the two guys ( valveman and Slusser) that have done the most damage to his pathetic site. Terry says his site is the most visited plumbing site on the web and it probably is. Folks go for entertainment, not for any real useful advice. It's a bit like a soap opera and you really have to follow the site daily and often because stuff gets deleted pretty fast there. One of the best things is the sheer paranoia of everyone involved to the point where they are now pretty much accusing anybody that is a new member of being a troll ( I suspect some are but hey, it's fun ) Terry has shut off private messaging ostensibly because he was "having problems" with the software but the truth is that these paranoid fools think the members are plotting against them LOL can you believe that? Members plotting against.... a plumbing forum? DUH Get a life fellas. Oh no, never mind, keep on doing what you do, it's the most fun site on the web. Not much value as a diy site, but d**n entertaining on the whole.

Im new to this web site.
So I take it that this is a web site where office workers review plumbing contractors.
Does that make any sense?
What qualifies someone that works on spreadsheets for theUS government in the IT computer field, for judging and rating home building and plumbing?
Its not even close.
But, then I realize that when you have the number one rated plumbing web site and forum in theUnited States , you will always have the ankle biters out there trying to take you down a notch.
I love computers too, but my work experience is firmly in the construction field. This is where Im considered an expert among my peers.
When I broke into construction in 70s, I was quickly moved up the ranks, given more responsibility which led to leading crews and being used as an adviser to those working above me. When they needed to know how to lay something out, or make an adjustment to a plan, they knew they could count on me.
By the time I was thirty two, I had been an owner of a plumbing company, and a custom home building business.
In the plumbing end of things, I was a fully licensed commercial master plumber. In the home building business, I was designing and building Street of Dreams quality homes.
Some of my homes were later bought by other builders for their personal homes. I had many innovative ideas that were copied by other builders. It wasnt uncommon to see builders come by on weekends, tour my homes, and then six months later I would see the influence in their homes.
I was the first contractor to turn in a house plan drafted in CAD that the city ofBellevue had ever seen.
You might say I was a white color mind, in a blue color body.
If you search the Internet, you will see articles either quoting or about me. Some of these would beFine Home Building , Lowes for Pros, CNN News, Fox News, BuilderOnline, Plumbing & Mechanical, Bottom Line Personal,
I receive email and phone questions throughout the day from all parts of theUnited States asking me for advice. I also have the leading advice forum where they can ask questions and read answers. Its a vital and active question and answer, DIY and professional discussion that was started in 1998. The old forum had 51,195 posts, and the more recent forum has 233,865 posts.
In the last year, we have added advertising to the web site. It was time for it to start paying its way. Its hard to take as much time out of my work day, without some compensation. I love helping others, but adding some income from the web site does help.
We have the most complete information on toilets on the Internet.
Go figure! Who would have thought there was that much to write about. It was in 1998, just a few years after the switch to low flow, that I abruptly became aware of the problems we were all facing with the new plumbing codes for plumbing.
When I asked my suppliers for information, I wasnt given good answers to the problem.
When I checked the Consumers Reports article on toilets, that wasnt good enough information either. I realized that nobody really had a clue on the new low flow toilet problem. At the time, I was part of a plumbers list, which included hundreds of participating plumbers from around the country. I did a poll, receiving email and phone calls from plumbers, and started a database on the answers I was getting. Based on that, I started buy toilets, and using them to get a first hand look and feel for what was really working. I quickly found out, that the guys testing baby play pens at Consumers Reports werent willing to get their hands dirty when it came to toilets. They even bragged about keeping it clean, wearing white overcoats and using reusable media like baby wipes, (yeah, thats right, back to babies) and sponges. All things you can pull out with your hands and reuse over and over again.
The problem was, when you put soft toilet paper in, some toilets would shred it, and the shreds wouldnt go down with the first flush. They were giving Best Buys to toilets that wouldnt flush. I tried selling their number one choice toilet, but women were complaining that they were getting sprayed from the water that had been in the toilet bowl. Yuck! The women didnt like those toilets. And if you sat on the toilet, and flipped the lever, Oh my Gawd! It was freaking scary to them. Women did not like the toilets, and small children refused to use them.
It was time for a different type of rating system. I needed to start rating toilets that women and children liked. Toilets that men didnt have to plunge when they got home from work. It was a fun project really. I would go out, do some shopping, bring the toilets home and try them out. After a while the manufacturers starting sending me product or dropping by to chat me up and bring even more product. Presidents of large plumbing companies would call when there were in town, and wed have lunch together. It was becoming a very successful report and project. Pretty soon, I was getting phone calls and emails from around the country thanking me for the information, and giving me even more input into the problem.
All in all, all of the posts and information from homeowners have been very good.
One of the problems with any discussion that takes place on the Internet, is the spammers and crazies. The spammers I can understand, they are just trying to make a buck on my dime. I provide the space, they want to fill it.
The crazies are a little tougher. They have a different agenda. For whatever reason, they feel that they have a right to put their mark on every tree they see. And if someone has marked the tree already, that just makes them angrier. Sometimes on forums and discussion boards, a little moderating has to happen, or the crazies will run off with the discussion, by spamming the results. If one comment is good, why not several hundred.
Sometimes you get bored at work people that think that the professional and licensed workers are wrong. Its not that they have any knowledge, but its so easy to post and give an opinion, and it doesnt have to be fact based. Construction is a funny thing. Everyone thinks they can do it. But for example: a plumbing license requires working under a journeyman plumber for 8,000 hours, taking education classes, and then passing a State test. The reason you work under a journeyman? You need to be brought into line, and have years of experience drummed into you. Too many times, Ive seen unlicensed handyman, self taught, doing work that fails, is not up to acceptable workmanlike practices and if inspected with a permit, fails.
I have tremendous respect for those that have gone through the process.
Its easy to be an armchair quarterback, imagining yourself as some sort of superstar, but do you really think you can quarterback the Houston Texans with 350 pound linemen chasing you down?
I think you have to be a little more real then that.
I give my kudos to the experts that populate my site. They have the years, the experience,

I have recently been accused of filing one or maybe more of the reports listed above. I wish to categorically state that I had and have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with any of them. Furthermore it has come to my attention in the past couple of days that someone has hacked into my computer, my email account, and passwords and has started several fraudulent accounts on various diy forums for the purpose of either harassing other members or to cast me in a bad light. Terry Love, while not a close friend of mine is a colleague and fellow plumber. He has always been an honest, stand up guy and whomever is screwing around with his forum is doing so for their own purposes. Those that know me will know that I have never had any alias on any other forum and while I do not give out my phone number and address I can certainly be reached by PM and from there if further consultation needs to occur I will at that time give my phone number and Email address, of which I only have one. I have my suspicions as to the member that has caused all of this confusion but I will allow Terry to either contact me directly or he can take care of the situation himself. Thanks to those that alerted me to the situation and god bless.

Where to begin here:
Lets start with the site owner. Here is a genuinely nice guy but apparently he is either dumb as a stump or he's being blackmailed. At any rate it's not him that runs the site, it's a couple of his moderators and one member that is apparently untouchable no matter what crap he spews.
Valveman: Valveman is a guy that owns ( or his wife owns) a company that sells what is actually a pretty good product. Problem is that apparently he has so little faith in the product that he is unwilling to allow anyone to post questions or comments that might otherwise put his product in a bad light. He is the de-facto Czar of the pump and well forum.
Cass: Manages to overlook every single insulting, belittling, back handed and downright rude comment made by Gary Slusser who just happens to be the owner of a company that sells filtration equipment. Gary, has managed to drive just about every single experienced member from the board one way or another. Usually it is by baiting them and baiting them untill they make the mistake of getting pissed off and then Gary reports them to the moderators and they dissapear. Gary even fights with people that post questions on the forum ( isn't that what the forum is for?) 3 out of 5 posts from him either start with or end with a sales pitch to visit his web site. It wouldn't be a problem except that the site rules clearly say no selling crap. Gary Slusser has been booted or banned from at least 6 DIY sites for similar behavior.
Cookie: Well, Cookie used to be a moderator there but now she's been demoted to member because of her constant badgering and fighting with members. At least someone made a right decision there.
So what's left to say? What used to be a great site, with a lot of advice from seasoned professionals has slowly gone down hill to the degree that there are only a handful of plumbers still answering questions there. And it will only get worse until Terry himself finally grows a pair and throws the people that have caused all the problems off the site.

"you lie"

A friend showed me this, so I signed up to reply. I have known Mr. Austin and have been using his Cycle Stop Valves for more than 10 years. You couldnt ask for a nicer, more honest person, or a better product. I dont doubt he has 40 years experience in the pump business. Like me, he was probably helping out fixing pumps before he was old enough to ride a bicycle. I also do not doubt that these people talking bad about him, either work for another valve company or a VFD company. There are several valve companies that have tried to get my business by telling me, theirs is just like a Cycle Stop only cheaper. And there have been several companies trying to sell me VFDs who told me the Cycle Stop will destroy my pumps. Of course I new better so I said, "you lie". I have used hundreds of Cycle Stops over the years, and have never had a single problem or warranty issue. They do solve lots of problems and make pumps last longer. I had only one valve that I over-tightened and broke. When I sent it back to Cycle Stop, they sent me a new one at no charge, even though they didnt have to. I think this web page lets people say thing that are not true so they can charge the company to repair their reputation. You guys surely do not know how a Cycle Stop works or you wouldnt have a pump system without one. And you guys do not know Mr. Austin or you would just pick up the phone and call him. I am sure he would bend over backwards to make things right for you.

Cycle Stop Valve is worthless
#13Consumer Comment
Fri, December 25, 2009
I bought one of them Cycle Stop Valves, it was a plastic red and white looking thing like a check valve, and it leaked, the installer wouldn't take it back or honour it even though the company says they will warrentee the valve, but then I 've checked the forums, and especially the Terry Love forum site of dis-information. Apparently the plastic valve always leaks, now why would you invent and patent a valve that leaks? The owner of the company, "Valveman" says yes they leak don't install them inside, buy my more expensive brass cycle stop valve instead, what's that all about, my valve always breaks, buy a more expensive valve?
So bottom line don't but a Cycle Stop Valve, and don't bother with any of the advice from the Tery Love forum of dis-information.
End of story, if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

Hmmm, lying
Lie #1 Mr. Valveman files this rebuttal as the owner of the company.
The report was about the terrylove.com DIY forum, the owner is Terry Love, this ripoff report was not about Mr. Valveman, or his valve.
Lie #2 Mr. Valveman is not even the owner of the Cycle Stop Valve Company.
Brad and Dunstreet reports the owner is Karen Austin, Carys wife.
Lie #3 Mr. Valveman doesnt have more than 40 years experience with pumps and wells. Quote from him more than 40 years experience with pumps and wells.
Public records from Lubbock Texas indicate Mr. Cary M. Austin is 49 years old, his birthdate is 08/31/1960 so Mr. Valveman must have started his pump and well experience at 9 years old. Why lie, I would have been impressed at 20 25 years experience. Well Valveman apparently lies about everything.
Lie #4 That I work for one of his competitors.
I do not work for any of his competitors, and I am not the person that he apparently believes me to be, because I have not posted anything about his valve on any other forum.
Lie # 5 That an engineer caused the shuttle to explode.
I thought it was a manufacturing defect that caused the O ring to leak and explode. Quote from answers.com The breakup of the space shuttle Challenger was caused by the failure of two O- rings in the aft joint in the right solid rocket booster (SRB's) to properly seal due to the cold weather.
Quote from Mr. Valveman This engineer is the same kind that causes bridges and buildings to collapse, and the shuttle to explode, because they have much more ego than intelligence.
I guess Mr. Valveman would prefer that plumbers design bridges and buildings and the Space Shuttle
Quote from Mr. Valveman The bottom line is that these people want you to believe that a water system should be designed by an engineer, and installed and maintained only by a professional.
Well yes actually any system that can kill you should be designed by a engineer and maintained by a professional, however there are some parts of a properly designed system that can be repaired by a DIY person.
Lie # 6 Quote from Mr. Valveman Speedbump got banned because he started promoting an selling a knock off of a patented product. The company who makes this knock off product has stolen every idea they have from me. To get around our patent, they made slight modifications to the product that will ultimately cause it to fail. They copy our product name, installation instructions, literature, and advertisements.
The valve that Speedbump is now marketing is the Barrett Pump Stop valve, it is not even remotely similar to your design, it is a copy of a Danfoss flowmatic valve called the Cyclegard which is no longer protected by patents. In fact in several forums you have stated that your design is based on a modification of the Cycleguard valve, so who is knocking off whos product.
If the Barrett Pump Stop valve violated any of your patents you would have filed a patent lawsuit against them to cease and desist.
Bottom line with Mr. Speedbump is that he was the most knowledgeable expert in the Pumps and Wells forum on the Terry Love forum site, and you banned him because he couldnt afford to sell your valve anymore because you wouldnt drop ship for him. Does Terry Love realize that?
Lie #7 Quote from Mr. Valveman The most common thing their salespeople say is, "our valve is just like a Cycle Stop Valve, only cheaper".
I have searched the Barrett Pump Stop website, and I can find no reference to the Cycle Stop Valve.
The best un-biased exchange I can find between Mr. Valveman and experts and engineers on the Cycle Stop Valve is here: forum.geoexchange.org, search for cycle stop.

I am Cary Austin of Cycle Stop Valves, Inc, and I help at several forums under the name Valveman. I run a legitimate business, with a reputable and patented product, and I have nothing to hide, so my real name, phone number, web page, and other information is readily available. I started joining forums to help weed out the false and misleading information like what is being spewed on this page. Anyone who shows the Cycle Stop Valve or CSV in a "bad light" or says it will damage a pump system, or waste energy, is outright lying. I have never received a penny for helping on any forum. Terry Love has one of the best DIY forums on the Internet, and he simply allows me to make sure all the information on his pump and well forum is correct. I have several patents and more than 40 years experience with pumps and wells. I pride myself in knowing what works and what doesnt, and try to keep the information on Terrys sight 100% accurate.
There are some people who sign up on forums under several screen names, and always remain anonymous. They spread disinformation, false propaganda, and generally give bad advice to try and confuse the poster. They get their jollies from screwing up someones water system, the same way other hackers get their jollies from starting a virus or worm that ruins peoples computers. There is also one person, who actually started this page, who works for one of my competitors. He has posted this false and misleading information on many, many forums. The company he works for will apparently do anything they can to discredit my product. They cannot say anything bad about my valve, because it is not true. They have hired this guy to anonymously make up lies. He also posted these same lies on Topix and many other forums. Topix and other web pages have had to remove the liable statements several times. See this link;

The "professional engineer" in question is one of those who thinks because he has a degree, that he knows everything there is to know. This engineer is the same kind that causes bridges and buildings to collapse, and the shuttle to explode, because they have much more ego than intelligence. Giving themselves the title of "professional engineer" makes you think they are helpful at explaining how a system works, when in reality they are leading you down the wrong path.
Actually I have had to ban many screen names, but they where all the same people. These people have an agenda, and it is certainly not to be helpful. The bottom line is that these people want you to believe that a water system should be designed by an engineer, and installed and maintained only by a professional. They certainly do not want you to know that all your problems can be solved with the DIY installation of our simple little valve.
Speedbump got banned because he started promoting an selling a knock off of a patented product. The company who makes this knock off product has stolen every idea they have from me. To get around our patent, they made slight modifications to the product that will ultimately cause it to fail. They copy our product name, installation instructions, literature, and advertisements. The most common thing their salespeople say is, "our valve is just like a Cycle Stop Valve, only cheaper". I have no more respect for someone who buys or sells knock offs, than I have for the person who actually stole the idea.
Porky is a respected driller and pump man with 50+ years of experience and more credentials than anyone I know. He has no agenda. When Porky recommends something, it is because his vast experience has taught him to know what is best. Porky also does not hide behind anonymity. Ask anybody in the well or pump business and they will know Porky. Porky is what his friends call him but, his real name is Howard Cutter and his contact information is always available. Porky is also a respected columnist who writes a monthly article in the National Driller magazine. Thousands of professionals in the drilling and pump industry heed Porkys every word, and we respect him the same as we would our own father or grandfather.
This anonymous person has been banned from several forums, and had many untruthful and liable posts deleted. Since Rip Off Report refuses to remove slanderous and liable statements, this rebuttal will refute these lies with facts. I have no problem sharing my contact information, since everything I say is the truth.
You should trust those who have legitimate businesses and products, and are willing to give their real name and phone number, more than someone who tries to deceive you anonymously. The Cycle Stop Valve has been a trusted product since 1993. It has proven to make pump systems last longer, use smaller pressure tanks, and eliminate water hammer, while providing an enjoyable constant pressure to the user. The fact that there are so many trying to copy the Cycle Stop Valve, proves how well they work. You wont see any legitimate companies say anything negative about the CSV in public, because they would be held liable for their false statements. Hiring someone to anonymously lie and deceive, to try and discredit my valve as he has here, is the best they can do.
We have plenty of references on our web page and you can search the web for other references to our product. The ONLY negative comment you will find on the web is from the same individual who started this report. You should just assume that anyone who wont use their real name is posting false, defamatory, inaccurate, etc., information. Why else would they stay anonymous? I think that pretty much says it all.
Thank You
