On December 22 I responded to an auction on Ebay by Sandiegofan444 for a Playstation 3 and games. His auction stated that he was willing to sell for a set price of $150. I sent him a message inquiring whether he would be willing to accept $130. He said that he couldn't set the auction with a "Buy It Now" because he didn't have enough feedback and couldn't do paypal because he had switched banks and was leaving on military duty so there wasn't time to get a paypal account verified.  This was on Tuesday and he said that he was leaving on Saturday. We emailed back and forth several times and he shut down the auction once we got the "details" ironed out.

He had us send a Moneygram for $130 to Terry Smith in Georgia and emailed me the address and his phone number, a Texas number.  He then emailed me that he sent the package that night and sent a tracking number that has never shown up in the USPS system. I've tried to email him a few times through my personal account and through Ebay, I've never received a response. My husband tried to call the cell number that was provided but it goes straight to voicemail. His call has yet to be returned.  Of course the package has not arrived and I have no idea whether or not this "Nathan Smith" is even a real person or if he is in the military.  The Navy he said.  He is no longer a registered user on ebay and has had himself unregistered since the same night that we were emailing about the auction.  I asked him why he wasn't and he said that it was because he had sold everything that he had for auction.

DO NOT deal with this guy or Terry Smith on Ebay!  I'm not sure how many different user names they've used but they are all scams!  I'll probably never see my money back but hopefully someone else can avoid them from the start.

he has a new name but the money goes to the same terry smith in atlanta,ga and still using the same story.

I need 10 postive feedbacks to add a buy it now option or make it mine option..what I can do is I can close it has you being the highest bidder, payment for item is moneyorder or check, because i will be leaving out for military duty on Friday evening, and i now bank at the army credit union, and i have to wait 7-10 business days to get verifed thru paypal, if you and express mail the payment i can have it ship out on Thursday with a tracking# or if you can send a moneygram payment at a walmart ,i can have it shipped out in the morning with a tracking#.

You MUST be smart about transactions!!!  Have you not heard ANYTHING about wiring money??? It is not traceable.  This guy scammed you from the start.  Seriously, I don't understand how people can be so stupid.  Stop trying to get such a deal too, if it seems "too cheap" it is!

This is exactly what happened to me!!  I even told him, be safe as he was being deployed.  Everything seemed on the up and up, even emailed me a tracking number that he said he had overnighted the package which I was told by USPS wasn't not an overnight number it was regular mail and no way to track until the USPS scans and that generally isn't done until delivered.  I too tried to call several times and got voicemail....I wish I would have searched this site sooner....what a jerk!!  this was my kids christmas present...some people are so dumb!

I tried to go through Ebay to get any sort of help with this situation.  Today I received a decision from consumer service. They aren't going to give any type of relief because the payment wasn't made by one of their approved ways.  I kind of expected this but thought it was worth a try. Next is making a report on www.ic3.gov - Internet Crime Complaint Center. Might just be worth something - it appears to be part of the FBI.  I'll keep this updated, especially if I can find some type of resolution that will help everyone thats been scammed by these people.
