I purchased a three year old, low mileage used vehicle by calling Texas Direct Auto regarding an eBay auction. So technically it was purchased directly, not via eBay. I purchased it based solely on the information in the auction and my conversations with the salesperson, as I am located approximately 2,000 miles from their dealership. The price seemed great, but considering its condition I consider the price to be only "fair". I am writing this complaint for two reasons - the misrepresentation of the vehicle's condition and the numerous problems that required repair or replacement.

The vehicle had numerous excessive cosmetic flaws that were not mentioned despite multiple requests for that information. Excessive exterior scratches, the rear bumper has been replaced and not installed properly, there is poor quality body work done to the driver's front fender. The alloy wheels are badly scratched. The interior carpet is permanently stained, and worn through in some spots in the cargo area. There are small tears to the leather and to the seat backing.

An interior handle was missing. The salesperson promised it would be replaced, but it wasn't. The windshield was cracked. Again, the salesperson said it would be replaced, but it was not.

The tires were worn beyond use. The rubber was chipped away and the cords showing on one tire. The tires are an unusual size for a minivan and cost $600 to replace.

The battery was dead. It had to be jump started to get off the delivery truck. It would not hold a charge and had to be replaced.

The van had a serious oil leak upon delivery. The oil needed to be changed. Replacing the oil filter fixed the oil leak.

The air filter was beyond dirty and had to be replaced.

The interior cabin air filter was also beyond dirty and needed to be replaced.

A battery hold-down bracket and two bolts on the engine cover were missing.

The vehicle did not include a keyfob as promised in the advertisement. I purchased this and had to pay to have it programmed as it can not be done without dealer specific tools (many can; this one can't).

The owner's manual was not included.

The interior was filthy and drenched with some strong and unpleasant fragrance that reeked and took weeks and constant scrubbing and shampooing to remove. Simply being in the vehicle with such a strong odor was nauseating to some of my family.

On the plus side, the people I spoke with were always very friendly and responsive. They did refund nearly $600 for miscellaneous problems, however this did not cover half of the necessary repairs. They also refused to deliver an unrelated $100 refund that was promised prior to receipt of the vehicle due to finance and delivery mistakes on their end that delayed my receipt of the vehicle.
