The state of texas is UNFAIR in any Women in an Divorce Case My sister was married to an High Upper managment position with IBM (made over $500,000 last year) she caught him cheating with his boss and he denied it at court. he walked in on day after 22 years of marrige and said he didnt love her thru the entire marrigage and wanted a divorce. she said ok and filed the papers for him

the great state of TexASS said she could only get $2500 month alimony for 3 years and $1100 child support this guy makes 20 times that you would think after over 20 years of marriage it would be more then that. she quit her teaching job 18 years ago to have a family now she has no job skill her collage degree is worthless and He lives up the high life now living with his boss that he swore in court he wasnt cheating with.

What a SHAME on TEXAS not to compensate resonably a women who has given her life to a man who just spit on her and a STATE that PROTECTS them.

   HERE'S MINOR CONSOLATION.

I UNDERSTAND SHE IS ELIGIBLE FOR HALF OF HIS SOCIAL SECURITY OR RETIREMENT CHECK UNLESS SHE HAD TO RELINQUISH THE RETIREMENT SHARE IN THE DIVORCE PROCEEDINGS --IF SHE IS MARRIED TO HIM FOR 10 YEARS OR MORE.

AND SHE CAN HAVE THE CHILD SUPPORT INCREASED TOO.

HER LAWYER DID NOTHING FOR HER AND SHOULD HAVE A MALPRACTICE SUIT FILED ON HIM OR HER AND DEFINITELY A COMPLAINT FILED WITH THE STATE BAR OF TEXAS. IT USUALLY GOES BAD FOR THE ONE WHO FILED, ESPECIALLY IF THAT SOMEONE IS A MAN.

I CAN BELIEVE THAT AFTER 22 YEARS OF MARRIAGE, SOME MAN WOULD KICK HIS WIFE TO THE CURB FOR SOME YOUNGER, MORE EXCITING FRESH MEAT... I FEEL FOR THAT WOMAN AND HOPE SHE DOES NOT END UP HOMELESS.

IF SHE WAS IN AUSTIN, TEXAS ,I KNOW SOME GREAT FAMILY LAWYERS WHO WOULD TAKE ON THIS GUY AND HIS LAWYER AND EAT THEM ALIVE IN COURT!

I live in Texas, have a child support order in Texas that was heard and disposed in Texas and actually we are the top "Mommy-friendly" state there is. She had horrible representation and if she didn't like her awarded judgement then she should have spoken up. It was up to her attorney to negotiate the final disposition and if she didn't like the results she was getting for her money then she should have looked for another attorney. As for the child support amount she is getting....... a judge in Texas doesn't just look at the guy or girl and say "I see how much you make and I am only going to award $xx.xx rather than the required award." See here in Texas your child support is based on how many kids you have (living with you or not), how much you make after taxes (income and medicare tax only not the other garnishments) and they award a percentage of income per child.

My ex and I have one child together and he makes six figures a year so he caps out on his support at $1200.00 a month. You can not ........CAN NOT get more than $1200.00 per single child in this state. We have a support cap. If he really makes a half a million a year and they only had one child then she should have gotten $1200.00 a month. So either they have more than one child or (more likely of the two) he/she was not completely honest with you about how much they made that year. If they have one child and she is only getting $1100.00 a month then he probably only makes $70,000.00 to $85,000.00 a year.

Just a heads up, there is an increase to the state child support cap that is before our fearless leaders. It is just waiting on approval which will be given considering the continual rise in cost of living we are experiencing right now. They are going to raise the support cap to $1600.00; she has to wait three years from the date of the final order before she can file for a review and increase in her child support. If I were her I would go down and file as soon as those three years are up.

If your sister feels she got ripped off in her divorce then what is the reason she did not file a report??
