Ad for locksmith to fix loose doorknob was advertised at $39. I was charged $162 for 10 minutes of labor, no parts. They never gave me a quote and ripped me off. I'm reporting them to as many people I can so they don't rip other people off

THIS COMPANY IS A TOTAL RIPOFF. CALLED AND SAID THEY WOULD REIMBURSE $70 AND THEN TEXT ME A RECEIPT OF ONLY $50 TO MY BANK. I IMMEDIATELY INFORMED MY BANK BECAUSE I SMELL A CON ARTIST. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY BAD REVIEW. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS TYPE OF SCAM BEFORE. THEY ARE NOT HONEST AND MUST THINK THAT I AM A FOOL TO BELIEVE TIGHTENING A DOORKNOB WITHOUT REPLACING AND HARD WARE WAS WORTH $162. AGAIN. THEY WERE LOOKING AT THE FRONT DOOR KNOB WHILE I WAS PREPARING EASTER DINNER. BEFORE I KNEW IT, THE DOOR KNOB WAS ON. BECAUSE I DIDN'T WITNESS WORK. THEY NEVER VERIFIED QUOTE OF $39 FROM THEIR AD, NEITHER DID THEY DISCLOSE ADDITIONAL $40 FOE COMING OUT ON EASTER., I BELIEVED THEY HAD TO REPLACE A PART OR ADDRESS MY ELECTRONIC PANEL SO BEING IN A HURRY, I PAID BECAUSE HE TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NORMALLY A $500 JOB. IT WASN'T TIL LATER WHEN MY FAMILY LOOKED AT WORK AND SAID I WAS RIPPED OFF AND THAT THEY COULD HAVE FIXED IT ONCE THEY CAME OVER FOR EASTER DINNER. I HAD SOMEONE ELSE WHO WAS COMING OVER ON THE NEXT DAY TO FIX IT FOR $30, BUT TO AVOID THE AGGRIVATION OF A LOOSE DOORKNOB, I MADE A HORRIBLE MISTAKE OF HIRING THESE CON ARTIST. BEWARE. STAY AWAY. TOTAL SCAM

#3REBUTTAL Owner of company

Mon, April 17, 2017

This is the owner. Tyrone Garrett. We arrived at Lisa's house on Easter. She spoke to one of my technicians. She's initially called about a broken lock. She expressed that we were the only ones open out of the companies she tried before she contacted us. From what I was told after we did the job was, she saw our ad on offer up and it said $39* with a asterisk indicating a starting price. Lisa never asked about price once we got there. She just wanted it done asap. As a locksmith it's a hard industry. I apologize if she feels ripped off. But she had a chance to review the price before she gave my technician the card. I would have personally handled the situation but I was only made aware of this after she made a complaint. She for the life of her couldn't fix the lock herself so she called a locksmith. As usual the customer says it's a easy fix after we fix it. If it were easy then you wouldn't need to call a locksmith out to fix it. My only problem was this was not addressed to me by the client especially after she begged to get a locksmith out on Easter. So my technician left his family to help this client. Things are more expensive on holidays. I apologize for the confusion. I'm just not sure why this wasn't mentioned while the payment was being taken. We give out hand written receipts or we break down the cost and have you actually signed the paper and then we send you a email receipt as well. So she had two chances to say hey why is this this price. She signed it and then give us her credit card. But what I think is she talk to her landlord and that's the person that was paying for it and they were upset about it.
