Complaint Review: That Guy Construction

Jake Wagner, Wagner General Contracting did not provide the service he contracted with me to do, accepted payment for work he did not do, and didn't obtain the necessary building permits for the portion of the work he did complete, leaving me with penalties from the City.  I contracted him to rebuild my home in Huntington Beach.  He started the work and asked for progress payments as we had agreed.  He then abandoned the project after he was paid over$43,000 including over $15,000 for work yet to be done.  In short, I have been "taken" for over $15,000 by Mr. Wagner dispite many attempts to resolve this issue.  I warn all who might contract with him to do work to only pay for work accomplished, or better yet, not to contract with Mr. Wagner or his company. He DOES NOT have a valid contractor's license and is asking for cash only payments. Criminal charges pending
