I signed up for a bicycle race using active.com. I somehow agreed to become a active.com premium member. Since you provide credit card information to sign up for the race, they use that credit card information to sign you up for a 30 day trial of their premium service. After the 30 days are up, they automatically charge your card $64.95. I have no recollection of ever agreeing to this, I'm sure if I went back and read the fine print I would see it, so its not a matter of if its legal, I'm sure it is. My issue with it is that it is very deceptive. From other complaints I've read online, the company has to be fully aware of the deceitful practices they are running. According to the Better Businees Bureau, in 2013 they agreed to refund $237,000 in Iowa for the same practice. I believe they are still doing the same thing. I will be issuing a complaint to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office where my event took place. In addition to getting a full refund, I would like to see active.com held responsible for their deceitful business practices.
