The Austin Hotel ripoff health violations poor customer service overpriced the business that doesn't give a dam Hot Springs Arkansas
The Austin Hotel in Hot Springs, Arkansas is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. We checked in late at night and found that the air conditioner wasn't working. The beds were terrible, the car seats would have been more comfortable. The next day, we tried to use the shower but there was absolutely no water pressure. I called the front desk to request an iron and some shampoo and mentioned the shower.
After waiting for an hour, someone from maintenance brought up a hair dryer and the shampoo. I called the desk again and asked for the iron. After another hour and another call, I got the iron and ironing board. We made a complaint about the air conditioning and then attended to our business for the day. Nothing had been done by that evening.
We decided to call room service that night for dinner. They said it would be an hour before they could bring anything up. According to their brochure, they are capable of handling large
business groups. Doesn't seem likely. All of this service for our "discounted group rate" of 89.00 a night.
The next day, we complained about the air and the shower. They sent up a maintenance man and he showed us the filter from the air conditioner unit in our room. It had about 6 inches of dirt caked up on it. He says "no wonder you couldn't get cold air". No wonder I couldn't breathe!! Then they took the shower head off and discovered it was clogged with some kind of nasty grime and goo. They replaced it also. Too bad, it was time for us to check out.
We expressed our strong dislike for their lack of customer service and the way we were treated overall. The manager on duty said there was nothing he could do. We continued to complain until he offered 10% off. He said he couldn't do more because it was Saturday and the head manager wouldn't be in until Monday. So we left with the promise someone would contact us. We have yet to get results.
Do not stay at this hotel!!

After several phone calls, we finally got a response from the manager of this hotel. She explained the hotel would be renovated soon and she is aware of the substandard rooms. She offered us 15% off of our total bill.
My husband did not agree with this and insisted for more credit. She refused. So, as of the end of July, we have only received a 15% discount or refund of charges. The manager seemed to think that the future improvements to the hotel are supposed to make up for our inconvenience. I just don't think so.
