First of all let me preface in saying my 2 all time top favorite bands are the Beach Boys and the Beatles. I lived in California for some time and everybody loves them and there songs are always on the radio. But this 2018 version of the Beach Boys is far below standard. We went to see them in concert, in the summer of 2018 recently and we were all highly disappointed. For one, Mike Love, the leader, is overweight, out of shape, winded and out of practice. I saw him in the VIP lounge during break, and his speech was a bit slurred as if in someone drinking too much. Okay, these things can happen to us as we get older. But don't go to concert in this condition. For two, in 2012 he fired 3 original founding members: Brian Wilson, Al Jardine, and David Marks. (you can google this and get tons of info on this especially the article in Rolling Stone Magazine). THIS IS DISGRACEFUL AND DOWNRIGHT LOW AND UNACCEPTABLE.

The band is just not the same. We can't understand what we saw at this concert. At least ½ of the concert was composed of songs that were not Beach Boy Songs. Some were dull, boring songs sung by some of the other band members other than Mike Love - the lead singer, and one was sung by his daughter. She is not an awful singer, but actually decent. But she is very below the standard of what someone should be doing if they are representing the Beach Boys as well as his other son Christian Love who is one the replacements also. Was this the plan: "get rid of the old family and put the new ones in! - bad plan! His replacement players all look dull, seem out of it, are emotionless and all seem over medicated or worse. All of them are dressed very sloppily in my opinion, with Mike love (THE LEAD SINGER AND OWNER OF THE RIGHTS TO THE BEACH BOYS NAME) in pants looking like they have not been ironed in weeks - this is not a joke and I’m not kidding!

There was one point where Mike Love had a special tribute to George Harrison, and his Meditation leader, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. He wrote a boring dull song for this tribute and showed films of the Maharishi in the 70's. And told us that if everyone meditated, the world would be a lot more peaceful, a philosophy of Transcendental Meditations founder Maharishi Mahesh Yogi ( a philosophy that I believe, by the way!). Then he had a few minute birthday party for one of his band members. During a concert? Now, listen: if he wants to promote meditation, give his daughter some publicity singing time, have a birthday party for his friend or friends, have tributes to deceased people and have his people and himself, sing a lot of other songs that the Beach Boys are not known for and in my opinion, not very good ones too. Okay well then, tell us up front before we pay for expensive tickets to see the Beach Boys in Concert. Don't sneak this in glibly and unexpectedly when we are expecting to hear your band sing the Beach Boys greatest and best hits. That's what we paid for.

Tell us up front and then we will decide if we want to make you richer by buying tickets to this type of fiasco. People, in my opinion, I am asking you not to support this band anymore or this type of behavior. It is irresponsible, disrespectful and unethical. And I, for one, am Extremely disappointed and sad that I have seen my heroes become horrors and only a small fraction of what they were. Even the actual Beach Boys hit songs they sang were off key, and out of sink. This is one of the most surprising rip-offs of this century. People, if you want to see the Beach Boys, go on U-tube and see them when they were great and remember them that way - you’ll be happier and have a few more bucks in your pocket as a result - because there are no refunds for dissatisfied customers at these concerts. As a mild disclaimer: The do have great videos they play in the background for their songs, and very good instrumentalists (they had 10 people in this band that I counted).
