The College Prep Center called to help my daughter do better on the SAT but stole from me La Mesa California
After a phone conversation with College Prep Center of La Mesa California a box addressed to my daughter showed up on my doorstep in mid summer of 2007. The return address read College Prep Center, La Mesa California (619) 668-2233. I had changed my mind about the products and I instructed my daughter to send it back.
We had taken down the number on the package and sent the items back to the sender.
My daughter then proceeded to call this college prep center, informed them that we were no longer interested in the items and confirmed the cancellation; she asked for a cancellation number and was told that it was not necessary and that the charges would be cancelled. But when my bill from Discover arrived in the mail I had seen that this company had some how charged my account for 99.90. I called my credit card company and reported the problem. They said they would investigate it. When my next bill was sent to me not only did they not cancel the charges, another charge for 49.95 was added to my account.
I retried the number on several occasions only to be sent straight to an answering machine that informed me their inbox was full or to call back at a later time. I called my credit card company again, they then told me to write a letter stating the problem.
In the meanwhile my daughter and I decided to look up this center on the internet and to our surprise this company was all a scam. When we entered the name of the company into a search engine we found two articles of similar complaints
