Complaint Review: The Country Club Directory

The Country Club Directory The Country Club Journal STOLE $700 FOR A PUBLICATION THAT WAS NEVER DISTRIBUTED Brooklyn New York

I am writing this in hopes of saving someone else from being robbed from the Country Club Directory.  Lisa Davis, a salesperson from the Country Club Directory, called me and said that I could have the back cover ad on their publication for $700.  She gave me the name of five country clubs in my area of Phoenix.  The publication would be distributed every quarter for one year.

The first quarter publication was due out on July 1st.  I received an email on June 22nd that the publication had shipped.  After waiting three weeks, I emailed the company on July 12 notifying them that we had not received our copy.

A week later my husband received a call from Alan Friedman, their manager, saying he had been out of the country and there was a problem with the printer.  He started out the conversation saying, "you're an attorney aren't you?"  He thought he was speaking to another advertiser and confused my husband with an attorney that was, also, to be on the back cover distributed to Arrowhead Country Club which was one of the country clubs we had chosen.

Alan promised the directory would be out soon.  August 3rd we receive our copy.  The word Advantage was spelled Advantantage and they left off our Realtor and Fair Housing logos.  I decided to drive to the five country clubs with my copy in hand.  Not one person had ever heard of or seen this publication before.  I heard the same story  over and over that they only carry golf publications.

We disputed the charges with our credit card company, and had the chages removed.  The Country Club Directory disputed our dispute and in the end we lost.  We provided a two page letter and 24 pages of documents.  The credit card companies don't want to reverse the charges because they get paid by the merchants.

If you go to facebook.com/thecountryclubdirectory/ and check their reviews you will see similar reviews.

I called the attorney in our publication that I mentioned earlier in my report.  After talking to him and comparing notes he said that he was also on the back cover and was to be distributed to the Arrowhead Country Club.  Obviously the is a scam.

When I visited the five country clubs that you supposedly distributed the publications to, I spoke to owners and managers.  Not one of them has every seen or heard of your publication.

As far as proof that they were distributed, you have ONLY provided tracking #'s for the one copy that we never received, another for the copy with errors, and a third with the corrections.

The relevance regarding the attorney is that he received his copy with his full page ad on the back cover.  In my copy his ad was opposite the table of contents.  I called this attorney to see what his experiece was like with your company.  He said that he had talked to you several times, and you provided bogus tracking #'s that he checked on the USPS website.  How could you sell a full page back cover to two different people that was to be distributed to the Arrowhead Country Club at the same time?

To blame the customer for a spelling mistake is laughable.  Anyone knows that you should have your own proof readers doing quality control.  Besides you did not use the final proof that we approved.

You never offered freebies and allowances.  If you had, we are not interested.  We want our $700 refunded.

Anyone reading this should call the country clubs to see if they receive this publication.

Dear Janet, (and to anyone who read this complaint)

First and foremost, Every single club that you were promised to be distributed to was sent books and you can contact us to give you the shipping information confirming that the book WERE distributed as promised.

When we were advised that you hadent received you books, we immedietly resent the book to the customer, twice! we also have shipping proof of this also. I dont remember if i asked the gentleman if he was an attorny or not nor do i see the relevance. I am happy to display all tracking and proof of delivery and service on this forum, if im allowed to do so.

The customer disputed the charge and when this happenes, the credit card company (whom in most case sides with the CUSTOMER) ran an independent investigation only to find that we indeed rendered all services that we had promised.

All customers give final aproval of their work therefor we cannot be held accountable for a spelling mistake as it was aproved by the customer, we did however fix the error so future prints wont have issues.

We have great feedback online and facebook and are very upset by this, and this is not to denote the customer, we offered many freebies and allowances within company policy but unfortunatly you cannot make everybody happy.

We wish you only luck and good fortune in the future
