The Elephant Group Deceptive Practices Employee and Consumer fraud Ripoff South Plainfield New Jersey
I am a former employee of The Elephant Group Satellite sales company, vendors of Dish Network and Direct TV.
The employees are encouraged to deceive customers and put unauthorized charges on clients accounts.
They also misrepresent their pay strucure to prospective applicants. They did this to me and when I brought it up to a supervisor, I was terminated. This is against Maryland Wage and Employment laws. I have retained a labor a labor attorney to settle this case.
This occurred at The Elephant Group's Elkridge Maryland location. I want to make other job applicants and consumers aware of the deceptive practices that this company engages.

This may not be Alex, but the information provided is TRUE. I am a witness to these events and I have witnesses myself that will back me up 100% as to The Elephant Group's practices. Slamming is a way of life in their industry. I had also witnesses other tricks used just to annoy folks who hung up or did not want to be called. The clients name and number were passed on to other reps who would repeatedly call that customer just to annoy them.
I also had a supervisor add on equipment that a customer did not want. When I objected I was told to keep it on that customers account even if they did not want it or authorize the extra charges.
Caveat Emptor of this company....

I am currently employed at the Florida office and the conditions there are just the same. The way customers are treated over the phone is outrageous. Managers are constantly focused on their closing percentage and the amount of sales for the day. I have had them say verbatim "If that guy is already a customer get him off my phones, don't waste your time with someone you can not sell". Yes, satellite sales' main focus is the sale of the satellite system that is all. Not to mention the only way to make the so called "commission" is, for the most part, slamming customers with e-club (the $19.23 charge people complain about) or by slamming the DVR or HD equipment (for those that are not aware, the term "slamming" refers to placing a charge for a service the customer did not request and it happens every day which is obviously illegal). All the blame is to be shifted toward management with their unrealistic goals and constant hassle to the employees. In all honesty, Elephant Group seems like it is slowly destroying itself from the inside, but that is no reason that others can not take action and stop a company that refuses to adhere to recommendations made by NAD (the National Advertising Division). It just goes to show you ethical business, is nothing but a facade.
