Unbelievable! I looked on line to find a satellite company. I called the 1-800 number to dish network. After a long drawn out call with someone who could barely speak English, I was signed up to have satellite TV. To my knowledge that was all. They tried to get me to sign up for all these other promotions. I said NO to all of them. Little did I know that the associate who took my call does not understand what that word means.

The next month when my bank statement comes in, I have all these strange charges to all these clubs and such like Blockbuster.com etc. So I spend literally hours on the phone and no one seems to know what the heck I am talking about.

I got some of them canceled right away. But it has been seven months and I am just now getting all of this straightened out. Block buster agreed to refund my money yesterday.

This is what they told me--The ELEPHANT GROUP(877-822-2418) is a marketing company that is hired to promote things for many companies. Block buster is no longer using them, because apparently when you tell them NO, it means YES for their commission. When I spoke with Dish Network, they stated this group still works for them, and they are not in any way responsible for the actions of someone they hire. WOW!! Are you kidding me? So, I signed up for Dish and my banking information was given to several other companies without my permission. Funny how no one seems to want to take responsibility for fraudulently giving away my banking information.

BE CAREFUL DOING BUSINESS WITH DISH NETWORK!!! Ask if you are talking to any person affiliated with the Elephant Group. If you are, you might want to reconsider and just hang up. Otherwise, be sure to check your bank account for disappearing funds. Of course no one at the Elephant Group is available for phone calls. What a racket!

I am just disgusted that this happens with a company like DISH and they take absolutely no responsibility for it. They should be held responsible, they hired this organization to scam people and it is just plain wrong!!!

This morning when checking my online bank account, I see a charge for $9.99 for Broadband Service. What's This??? I have no TV, only a computer which has a cable modem through Brighthouse. I had been web surfing a few days before, just to see what was out there as far as satelite services, and may have even been on Dish Network's page, but I never selected anything and certainly did not put my credit card info in. On that particular day, I was upgrading my computer, and had to turn off my security features for awhile. I called the bank & they gave me a phone number for the Merchant and I called. It is answered automatically "Saveology" and goes round trying to get an account# which I don't have as I never signed up. Finally I get a real person, "Mary" who answers the phone as "Dish Network".

I tell her the story, $9.99 to my Visa Bank card saying "Broadband Services", I called the Merchant ph# and after reaching Saveology.com am re-routed to Mary. Mary has no record of an account in my name, my phone# or a charge to my CC#. Besides, she says, they don't have any charges for $9.99. She needs a copy of my bank statement (which won't come out till 7/1/09, a month away) to verify the charge so it can be credited back.....WAIT A MINUTE...You just said you didn't have a record of any charges to my CC#, and now if I supply you with a bank statement, you'll credit it back??

I went to USA's BBB website and put in 'Saveology'. It gave me several addresses. I then put in 'The Elephant Group', and Lo and Behold, it gave me all the exact same addresses. All the Elephant Group has done is change it's skin. It's still up to the same old tricks. It somehow got my CC#, charged it and now wanted to dawdle around about crediting it back, figuring for $9.99, I just give up. Wrong. I filed the dispute with my bank, and I'll let them handle it. I get so tired of getting scammed. It's a constant battle to keep up the fight, but fight I will.
