I signed up online for a one-month trial subscription. The newspaper arrived, I did not like it, and I called the "cancellation hot-line" several times, starting two weeks into the trial period, always during their normal stated hours. Each time, I was on Hold for over an hour and then got their outgoing message, "There are no agents to serve you." The website now states that cancellations are not accepted by email or any other media except the one phone number that no-one ever answers.

It also states that if a given credit card is no longer active, they will never cancel a subscription but will continue to bill you $79.00 cumulatively, and dunn you for the money they fraudulently claim you owe them. I'll cancel my card, of course. I sent a cancellation letter to the home office via snail-mail, and also reported the company to the District Attorney's Office of Consumer Protection.  I probably will need to have proof that I did all due diligence to try to cancel the d**n subscription, to get it taken off my credit report, if the bastards ever report the fraudulent debt to the credit-reporting companies.  What a scam!
