Complaint Review: The Flooring People Ltd.

I hired the The Flooring People in October of 2007 to install engineered hardwood floors in my condo. The floor was uneven and needed to be leveled. I tried to make this clear to The Flooring People prior to starting the job.

Part way through the levelling process they stopped and asked for more money. I agreed to the additional money but in the end so when they installed the hardwood there were large areas where there were voids under the floor and the floor would move. In one spot they nailed through the top of pre-finished hardwood. After a few weeks, the nails lifted. Dealing with the Manager, Dan Garrity was a nightmare for me

I had their work inspected by the Alberta Floor Covering Association. In their report, the AFCA said that "...It is our recommendation that the hardwood floor be taken out, the floor leveled to industry and manufacturer standards...there should be no cost incurred to the homeowner as this is an installation issue and needs to be brought to industry standards at the cost of the installation company."
