The Framestore Total Con Artists ripoff Pasadena California
Used to think that although their services were overpriced, the work was high end quality. That's what led me into there Pasadena store to have a picture of mine matted.
I explained to the gal at the counter exactly what I wanted. I was told "Okay, we will just need a small deposit" My eyesight is severly limited but she asked me to sign for the deposit. I could not read the disclosure on the deposit receipt but I confirmed with the gal that I just wanted the picture matted.
Long story short, when I returned home, my wife read the receipt that said I was charged 110.00 for a "small deposit"!!!, not the 10.00 which I was believed I was signing for.
Needless to say I was not happy. This was right before a trip out of town so I decided to deal with it when I returned a week later.
I was told that the deposit was for framing the picture and that it was ready for pick up. I explained that I never requested the picture to be framed but only matted. Neither the gal at the counter nor the manager would refund the deposit and what's more, if I wanted my picture back I had to pay an additional 50.00!! even if they removed the frame!!!
Bottom line. I was charged a non refundable 110.00 for a service I never requested, for a picture I provided!! The picture that I supplied was held hostage unless I paid an additional ransom!!
I have many many friends in the Pasadena area and am warning all of them to sty away from these rip off artists.
