The Gilmer Law Firm, PLLC George M. Gilmer, Esq Received Very Poor Legal Representation. Brooklyn New York
We retained George M. Gilmer, Esq. to represent us against ACS to have a record expunged that was already deemed unfounded and dismissed by the court. We believe that we had all of the evidence and proof that the original call to ACS was false. George M. Gilmer, Esq. advertises that he is an expert in dealing with ACS, so we gave him $1,500 to process this expungement request for us. Pending a successful expungement, we planned on filing suit against the originator of the false report.
George M. Gilmer, Esq. was mostly unreachable and unresponsive after our initial meeting when that money was exchanged. At one point after many attempts to reach him, he emailed me a copy of what seemed to be a hastily written letter to ACS asking for my record to be expunged. This was weeks after our initial meeting and was close to the deadline for filing such a request. The letter did not provide any proof or evidence to support the request.
Some few months later, and after numerous attempts to reach him, George M. Gilmer, Esq. finally emailed me with what appeared to be a response from ACS acknowledging his request and offering him to provide evidence. To my knowledge, George M. Gilmer, Esq. did not provide nor offer any such evidence or proof in response to this letter. I also did not receive a copy of this letter from ACS myself.
Some months later, George M. Gilmer, Esq. called to tell me that he received a denial letter from ACS regarding my expungement, and that because he was out sick, the letter was received some time ago, therefore the decision to appeal would have to be made very quickly, and he also said it would cost several thousands of dollars in court costs (which I am not sure if this is actually true.) I also did not receive a copy of this letter from ACS myself.
At that point, my opinion of George M. Gilmer, Esq. was that he is a very poor lawyer, but since I still had time to file an appeal, I decided to proceed on my own with the evidence which I believed would support my claim. I asked George for a copy of the denial letter. His response was that it was in storage and that he would have to request a new copy from ACS. For the past six months, George M. Gilmer, Esq. has neither provided me with any such letter nor responded to my attempts to reach him. The deadline for appealing the denial has now passed.
We have every reason to believe that with proper representation, we would have proven false intent on the originator of our ACS case, already unfounded and dismissed, and this would have resulted in a full expungement of the ACS case record. We then would have followed with civil suits against the originator of the ACS case and also ACS itself. We believe that George M. Gilmer, Esq.'s poor representation for us is now preventing us from furthering our cause since all time limits have now passed.
Our opinion is that George M. Gilmer, Esq. is a very poor lawyer who provides such inadequate representation that any outcome is sure to be negative for his clients. Since other reviews of him on the internet claim that he is unethical, we believe it is possible that George M. Gilmer, Esq. takes money from his clients knowing full well that he will not be providing adequate services for them.
We have filed this report in good faith and are providing our honest opinion and experience with George M. Gilmer, Esq. who represents the Gilmer Law Firm, PLLC.
