The Green Millionaire www.greenerwealth.com Deceptive ads trumpet "Limited Time Offer....Free Book" and then in little tiny grey letters "plus s/h", Hmmmm! Ontario, California
This one is classic! The ad i just saw on TV said they were giving away this "get rich while saving the planet" book for free, so I logged on to their website. Right out of the gate, you see the little asterisks. Those mean it's SO not free.
Little gray letters state "plus s/h" which I thought meant shipping/handling, but I didn't pursue this any further than the first page because they're not even getting my name. I clicked on the "terms & conditions" link, waaaay at the bottom of the page. This is where it gets really not-free.
Apparently, by requesting the "free" book, you are also enrolling in their e-magazine (not even a real paper publication, which means it costs them exactly ZERO!) trial offer. To opt-out of this offer, you'll need to call them on a toll-free line that will no doubt be routed to an offshore call-center that requires you pony up your credit card info (that you already have to provide to get the "free" book, why is that again? LOL), to a rep in a 3rd world nation, within 14 days. If you don't, you have now agreed to be billed $89.95 per year! For a E-ZINE?!
What I am truly shocked, and ashamed to find out is that their corporate office complex.....wait, office singular.....is that a SUITE number? Like in a strip mall? Anyway, this place is about 5 miles from where I live.
Oh yeah, California residents are also required to pay sales-tax.....for a free book!
