I received a "Special Offer" for a course in "Selling on e-bay" from Derek Gehl, owner of Marketing Tips.com on August 29. It was a "One Time Only" for a select few at the price of $9.95 plus shipping. They charged my credit card $25.18 ($15.23 for shipping?). I received a binder and some CDs that were glued into a cardboard case and were not usable. On September 24 they charged my card another $98.50 and on October 1 charged another $196.01.

My bank manager called them on my behalf and Ms Stacey Melquist, Customer Relations Lead, agreed to refund my money if I returned the package which I did. They refunded $98.50

I have received e-mail from Ms Melquist and also from Gavin Burlingame and Brigid Madera all telling me I have to wait in line for the $196.01 (which tells me that I am not the only one to be ripped off). They said it would take 15-20 days. I'm still waiting.

They also said the initial $25.18 is not refundable.

Upon receiving information on the client's case I was able to locate him in our database to find the situation. It looks like the products he signed up for were on a trial basis.

What this means (as stated on the website) is that you have the option to sign up and pay a small portion from the actual price of the product (in this instance it was $0.99) plus the cost of shipping and try out the product for 30 days.

As stated on the website, you have thirty days to review the product, and if you wish to keep it at the end of the trial period, your credit card will be billed the remaining cost. If you wish to return the product, you can notify us to do so within the thirty days, and we will not charge your card anything further.

So in this case we had not received a cancellation request from the client therefore he had two trial products on file, one with a monthly fee of $98.50 and the other for the remainder of the course for $196.01

These were charged, and upon receipt of the charge the client contacted us to have these charges reversed. As stated, we would refund $98.50 immediately, and refund $196.01 upon receiving the course back as per our policy. Trial costs are non-refundable as it is the cost to try out the product.

The client was refunded for $98.50 on October 12th, and after receiving confirmation of the returned package the course was refunded on November 20th for $196.01

Therefore all recurring fees that were billed to the client's credit card have been returned. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
