Everyone, but especially immigrants BEWARE of Osei Prempeh, P.A.!!!! This lawyer is a LIAR, THEIF and CHEAT. He will take your money (he took over $7,000 from us) and run in hopes that you will be deported, becoming unable to file a complaint. We hired Mr. Osei Prempeh in 2006 to represent my husband and help him correct his immigration status from student to permanent resident. From the start Mr. Prempeh misrepresented himself, stating that he had years of experience dealing with cases just like V's. This was a lie Mr. Prempeh had just started his practice and had very limited experience in matters like my husbands, making him unaware of the correct process to follow.

Mr. Prempeh is disorganized and lazy. His office at 3202 N. Howard Ave. Tampa, FL 33607 is a disaster. When you go into his office confidential files are all over for anyone to pick up and read. Then he can't find your file or the important paperwork that is needed to complete for your case. Mr. Prempeh takes on more than he can handle because he is greedy and wants your money. Please beware of this attorney!!! I don't want you to go through what my family has been through.

Mr. Prempeh had clearly advised V that everything was going to be fine as he was handling V's case. Mr. Prempeh continued to assure both V and myself that his letters and appeals would be enough to correct V's status. Mr. Prempeh clearly stated to both V and I that it would be no problem for a continuance to be granted because Mr. Prempeh could not appear for V's case. Per the response of the judge it was made very clear Mr. Prempeh was unclear with the process and did not understand what he was doing to our case. Through out Mr. Prempeh's handling of Victor's case he continued to delay things, asking for continuances and waiting till the day something was due to respond. Mr. Prempeh even advised V not to appear at his a hearing in Minnesota on February 24, 2006, which caused more problems then we could even imagine. Mr. Prempeh told V it was not right for the court to ask V to appear without counsel and that this was designed as an intimidation tactic. Yes, my husband was intimidated. Yes, V followed the advice of Mr. Osei Prempeh our attorney and didn't attend the hearing. Our complaint is based on the fact that after my husband retained Mr. Prempeh, he gave V counsel that was not only detrimental to V's case, but we have since learned, also against the law. Of my husband's own volition, he would never choose to disregard an order to appear before a judge.

Because Mr. Prempeh couldn't appear, he waited till the last day to ask for a continuance. This continuance was denied, but we didn't know this because Mr. Prempeh had not properly communicated with us, his clients what was really going on. We were astonished that we hadn't gotten a reply to our request for another court date. Instead the judge had said Mr. Prempeh could appear by telephone on behalf of my husband. Hadn't we called the 23rd of February, we wouldn't have known the decision for Mr. Prempeh to appear by telephone conference. It is all these things tied together that led Mr. Prempeh to the decision that I shouldn't attend court since he wouldn't even be there to cross-examine the witness.

Because I noticed the delays in Mr. Prempeh's response to the court Victor and I decided to take some matters into our own hands. We did some research and found out that since Victor and I had gotten married we needed to file an I-130, which was promptly taken care of. There was more paperwork we thought we should file, but Mr. Prempeh misadvised us that it could not be filed until the I-130 was approved. We had filed this paperwork, but because of Mr. Prempeh's previous illegal advice, my husband then went under deportation proceedings. This led to my husband being arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers on the morning of Friday, October 13, 2006.

The reason Mr. Prempeh is not our attorney to this day is because after my husband's arrest on October 13, 2006, I desperately tried to get in touch with Mr. Prempeh to no avail. I called him hundreds of times with phone records to prove it. We even tried to contact a college of Prempeh's, Attorney Ani, as we had done on another occasion when Mr. Prempeh was out of the country. Attorney Ani was not available either. The only response I got from Mr. Prempeh was a threatening voicemail saying that I had to pay him more money ($5,000) to get my husbands file so we could go on to get a new lawyer.

Friday, October 13, 2006 was the worst day of my life. The lawyer I had paid everything I had, had suddenly disappeared in our time of need. Both V and I filed complaints with the Florida Bar Association and the Better Business Bureau against Mr. Prempeh in hopes that this horrible event will never happen to anyone else. We have been through hell because of Mr. Osei Prempeh. The BBB complaint went nowhere, but the Florida Bar has taken our case to the Florida Supreme Court after a hearing.

After my husband was arrested he was detained for four months at Krome Special Processing Center in Miami, Florida, Mr. Prempeh visited him asking for the Florida Bar complaint to be dropped. He clearly told my husband that he was scared of losing his license to practice law. Osei Prempeh needs to lose his license. He needs to stop robbing and cheating good people that want to move on with their lives.

Because of Mr. Prempeh my husband was detained for four months and was unable to work for 2 years. This caused my family more stress than I could ever describe. From the beginning Mr. Prempeh knew he could not handle my husbands case and took it anyway, just for the money. Osei Prempeh caused my family financial problems that still continue today because we went from a 2 income home to just one person supporting our family. There were days where I barely had gas to get to work and the cupboards were empty because we could not afford food. Mr. Prempeh caused us to suffer medical issues and emotional suffering. He needs to be stopped. Please do NOT ever hire The Law Offices of Osei Prempeh, P.A. He will take your money and disregard you, hoping a complaint will not be filed. Beware of Mr. Osei Prempeh he will turn your life upside down and get rich by doing it.

Don't get suckered by Osei Prempeh!

Mrs. Kasera, Stop misleading the public with all the lies and come out with the truth.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

Mon, December 29, 2008

It's always good and nice for people to have a medium to express their views as a way of either showing their satisfaction or dislike about something. To me, one such medium is ripoff.com. But a person such as the Kaseras' doesn't know the purpose of using such sites and as a result, they furnished the site with lies and misleading statements.

As a neutral guy, when I first read about the report posted by Mrs. Kasera on 10/5/2008, I took it upon myself to do my own investigation because the said attorney handled similar case for me, and other guy's such as Teteh (813-385-7808) and to me, he did a good job. The investigation result was inconclusive and that made me to believe that the Kaseras' are taken advantage of the rip off site. Below is exactly how things went down between the Kaseras' and the attorney (Osei Premeph):

Mr. Kasera is native and citizen of Kenya. He was admitted to the United States on January 13, 2003 as a nonimmigrant student to attend and study at Saginaw valley State University in Michigan. Mr. Kasera failed to attend Saginaw Valley State at all from January 13, 2003 to the present day.

On February 4, 2004, Mr. Kasera filed an Asylum Petition (Form I-589), and was interviewed. His Asylum Petition was denied because Mr. Kasera lied on the Asylum Application by saying that he is a native and citizen of Darful, Sudan, even though he is from Kenya and presented a Kenyan passport to the Asylum Officer.

LOOKING AT THE ABOVE FORGONE, CAN YOU MAKE YOUR OWN JUDGEMENT AS TO WHO IS A LIAR? IS IT THE ATTORNEY IN QUESTION OR THE KASERAS'?

The Immigration Service found Mr. Kasera to be a liar. And as a result placed him under removal proceedings according to United States pursuant to section 237 (a) (1) (C) (I) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, since he failed to maintain or comply with the conditions of the nonimmigrant status under which he was admitted.

Mr. Kasera, who now has moved from Bloomington, Minnesota to Tampa, Florida, retained attorney Osei Prempeh as his counsel on February 6, 2006, four (4) days before his schedule hearing in Bloomington, Minnesota.

Looking at how close the hearing and the time the attorney needs to prepare, attorney Osei Prempeh wrote a motion to the court in Bloomington, MN, requesting the court to reschedule the hearing due to prior engagement in Detroit, Michigan. Subsequent to which, on February 9, 2006, the court granted the Motion for Continuance and reset the Master Calendar Hearing to February 24, 2006, at 1.00 PM in Bloomington, MN.

To the attorney's surprise, the Court did not consult him before rescheduling the master hearing again from February 24, 2006 to February 16, 2006 and since that coincide with another hearing (Teteh) in a similar deportation hearing in Bradenton, Florida, Again, attorney Osei Prempeh filed a motion for continuance at the Bloomington Court. Which until today the Court has not ruled on the motion for the continuance which was mailed on behalf of Mr. Kasera, and was received by the Court on February 17, 2006 .

On February 23, 2006, at 12:33pm, one (1) day before the hearing in Bloomington, Minnesota, the attorney telephoned the Bloomington Immigration Court and spoke to an employee of the court. He informed attorney Osei Prempeh that if the Court had not made a decision on the motion for continuance then, Mr. Kasera is expected to appear in person for the hearing, but he the attorney could appear via the telephone. He called on Mr. Kasera and relay the message, and then asked him to leave for Bloomington, Minnesota but he the attorney will be on stand-by on his cell phone. Mr. Kasera told attorney Osei Prempeh he would leave that evening for the hearing in Bloomington, MN.

On February 24, 2006, the Court conducted the hearing in absentia because Mr. Kasera did not show up for the hearing as indicated to attorney Osei Prempeh the previous day when he called on him and relay the message. Based on that, Mr. Kasera was ordered removed from the United States to Kenya in absentia.

AGAIN, IS IT THE FAULT OF THE ATTORNEY FOR MR. KASERA NOT TO SHOW UP AS CLAIMED BY THE REPORT POSTED BY THE WIFE MRS KASERA ON THIS SITE? I think the answer is a big NO.

After all the appeals were denied, on April 26, 2006, the attorney decided to file an I-130 petition, Immigrant Petition for Relative, for Mr. Kasera.

MRS. KASERA'S REPORT POSTED ON 10/5/2008, SHE CLAIMED, THEY DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT THEY COULD FILE FOR THE FORM I-130. BUT ACCORDING TO THE RECORDS AT THE IMMIGRATION SERVICE, IT WAS CLEAR THAT ATTORNEY OSEI PREMPEH WAS THE ONE WHO FILED THE SAID PETITION FOR THE KASERAS'.

Back to the I-130 petition, the petition was approved on September 27, 2006, by the Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Kasera is still in this country because of the I-130 petition that was filed by attorney Osei Prempeh.

IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME BASED ON THE I-130 THAT, THE ATTORNEY HAS DONE MORE GOOD THAN HARM TO THE KASERAS' AND MRS. KASERA SHOULD BE PLEASED WITH THE ATTORNEY AND STOP MAKING MISLEADING STATEMENTS.

Finally, Mrs. Kasera claimed she made all attempts to contact attorney Osei Prempeh but to no avail and even contacted his friend attorney Ani Oluku, who she claimed said he doesn't know the where about of attorney Osei Prempeh. Again, as part of the investigations, I contacted attorney Ani Oluku about the allegation made by Mrs. Kasera in her report. He responded saying he had never said anything like that to Mrs. Kasera and he doesn't know why she will try to incorporate him into her lies like that.
I do have a word for Mrs. Kasera. If you have personal problems with attorney Osei Prempeh please try to sort it out with him, because people who read stuff on this site only want the truth not fabricated stories or lies like the one you did. Please stop doing that, because people like me don't appreciate the lies you are providing to the general public!
