I entrusted my antique china cabinet secretary with The Master Craftsman 4 years ago. Some of the veneer had chipped and it was suppose to be a simple veneer repair and refinish. The agreed price was approximately $1700 and I could pay it off in one years time. After removing the varnish they determined that the veneer could not be saved and all of it had to be replaced. If I had known this, I would have left it the way it was. The price had doubled with additional costs of fixing a drawer and the payment plan denied after I was accepted and the work had started (they didn't even bother to inform me of this).

This began a torturous 4 year battle with them to get my furniture back. I was lied to, phone calls were not returned, they tried to manipulate me and they were unwilling to compromise. Eventually we went to pre-trial. I agreed to pay $2000 plus the $150 deposit. I had mentioned that I had asked the refinisher that decorative piece had fallen off and the matching piece had been lost long before I owned it. I wanted a new piece made and both reattached. Not only did they not make the piece, but they lost the one I had.

Upon delivery, I noticed that one of the keys to the cabinet was missing. I wrote the company twice and only after threatening to file a complaint in the second letter did I get I get a phone call. The respondent, and not the person I wrote, left me a message that they didn't have my key and the decorative piece was not in the agreement. I had to send the keys with the cabinet, since only one man showed up to take the cabinet I was afraid the cabinet would get damaged if the glass doors weren't locked, so I know keys were sent with the cabinet.

I have experienced the worst customer service ever with this company. Not once have they gone out of their way or compromised in favour of the customer (me). I have been treated like they are doing me a big favour. I paid them more money than I originally agreed to, you would think that returning a small piece of wood and a key wouldn't be too much to ask!
