This is an attempt to make consumers aware of the deceitful practices that Myan Resorts, Vida Vacations, and their partners use. Simply put, avoid MYAN RESORTS and their sale practices at all costs!! Don't believe me, a simple Google Search "Grand Mayan Scam" will pull up all the information you need. My story is very similar to the thousands of others out there but I want to publish this to as many people as possible.

The fraudulent misrepresentation starts when you walk through the doors. They will offer you free breakfast and a tour of the resort. The resort is huge, so it appears to be a wise choice and they claim this will not take up much of your time. What they do not share with you is the truth.

You will be attending a high pressure sales presentation that will consume your entire day to the point where you feel the need to buy something to get out of the room. Even through this, I was still able to accept the initial lie and was participating as a willing listener. What I did not realize is that everything they were telling me continued to be lies and this continued from high pressure sales people they forced me to listen to before I could sign out and leave. This was my first time to get a timeshare presentation I hear that other companies may pressure you, but are not willing to flat out lie to you.

Mayan Resorts does this day in and day out to hundreds of people and takes their hard earned money. When I was making the deal they told me that I if I didn't use my week I didn't had to pay for the maintenance fee and that I was going to own the place for 90 years. After being there for hours we signed the contract and later on when we got home and I was able to read al the contract founf out that everything were lies. They will also sell your current timeshare for an estimated price that is provided to you. THESE ARE ALL LIES COMING FROM MAYAN RESORTS AND VIDA VACATIONS!!! These companies are a 'front' and it appears their websites may even be fake.

You find out about the fraudulent misrepresentation when you get home and start contacting these companies and follow the instructions you've been told. This is a scam and continues to happen day in and day out the minute your plane hits the ground in Mexico. Unless you've been burned by them before, educated about this, or much skeptical of people than I am.......you will get trapped. Just avoid these people, the resorts, and any business partners associated with them.

I contacted them to ask for a refund. I talked to Budel Lopez/member services manager and I explained to him about all the lies that were made to us. And he responded that we couldn't do anything about and that a contract was signed and that I was obligated pay everything on the contract.

I only asked for a refund of the following, which they refuse:
$2000.00 down payment to Vida
$ 128.00 per month (Stop monthly payment processing ASAP!!)

It appears that I will not get my money back, so hopefully I can save other people the hardship and loss. Please do not go there, avoid doing business with them, and pass this on to anyone who travels.

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

I'm glad that your Mayan Palace timeshare issue was resolved. Mine is now resolved too, but what a hassle it was to get a final solution. They completely lied in the presentation, then when we tried to cancel, they were uncooperative, unresponsive and downright rude. I finally had to hire representation to help me out of this nightmare. Mayan Palace needs to be stopped!

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

I got ropped into aMayan Palace timeshare scam. What a fraud!! .....$6800 without a vacation. They said I would get two weeks a year for the next 10 years. When I called to schedule a vacation for October 2014, in the Carribean I was offered 9 resorts. Really, 9 resorts for the whole Carribean??? The amount I was supposed to pay per week was $500. All the choices for the 9 resorts were all over the $500 amount. Trying to cancell my contract, but I am having problems with that. Can anybody offer any help?

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

A Mayan Palace timeshare does not typically pay for itself, unless the currency you are talking about is memories. Even then, you can still get those memories at a fraction of the overall cost. While the sales agent may not want to divulge this information to you, timeshares are most definitely not just about property payments. They also come with plenty of other costs, hidden fees and taxes. No matter how little you use the timeshare, you are still responsible for its upkeep, sometimes including utility costs and maintenance. These extra fees can be hundreds of dollars per year

I was contacted by Baudel Lopez and he was able to resolve all the misunderstandings that we had. I have no pending issues against them and I was amazed by their support and I retract what I had said before.
