On August 19, 2004 I ordered a Platinum XBOX for my nephew's birthday on the 27th. He asked me for a modified XBOX and I searched for the best one (I thought) I could find. That search led me to the ModChip Store. I ordered their top of the line Platinum XBOX. I received it on August 23. As soon as I opened the box their was a sticker on the top of the XBOX that read "HD NEEDS SERVICE" It wasn't even in a platinum case as pictured on their web site, A misleading photo of an item that doesn't exist.

Imagine, I spent 500 bucks and they sent me a previously returned, defective XBOX. I immediately contacted them through their help desk. They claim to have online live help but it is never functioning or online. (This is a clue and a warning; they don't list a phone number or an address on their web site.)

It took them over a week to respond to my three separate requests for help. They finally issued me a return authorization. I sent it back to them on august 31, long after my nephews birthday had passed and keep in mind that this is well within the return guidelines outlined in the purchase agreement. (Defective merchandise can be returned with in 30 days for a full refund.)

I requested a refund and clearly stated if they shipped another one I would refuse delivery, since my nephew's birthday had already passed. They shipped one anyway ignoring my request for a refund. I refused delivery. They shipped one again, and again I refused delivery. Now I am in the hassle of trying to get my money back. So far I have contacted the attorney generals office in Dallas, Texas, filed a complaint with the better business bureau, disputed the charge with the credit card company and I may even have to take them to court in Massachusetts to get back the money.

So, unless you to want all these hassles, take my advice and stay away from the ModChip Store.
