I purchased an ASR Basis Exclusive phono preamplifier.
I was told by Scot Markwell, the manager, that the unit was new and that it was the latest version.
When the factory was contacted in Germany, I learned that the unit was from an old production run , and that it could not be upgraded to the current model's specifications.

I contacted the distributor who wrote me a letter stating that the unit was used, and that Scot Markwell had full knowledge of the history of the unit.
I was also provided with a copy of the invoice for the amount Scot Markwell paid for the unit,$2,940.

When confronted with this information, Mr. Markwell denied it, and I subsequently contacted American Express to put a hold on the charge of $6.060.00.Despite the overwhelming evidence, Mr. Markwell and the owner, Mr. Mike Dobson brush it off as if they did nothing wrong.

To make matters worse, if the unit is returned, a $1,200.00 restocking fee is being requested by Mr. Markwell, even though there is no mention of a restocking fee on the invoice, if a unit is returned.

In my opinion, this transaction was illegal, and the company needs to be punished within the guidlines of California law.
