Complaint Review: The Olde Barn Restaurant

In February of 2002, I became engaged to a woman whom I thought was the love of my life. I then proceeded to book a room for the reception at the Olde Barn Resteraunt. I gave them a deposit of US$750 to secure the room for May 29, 2004.

In Feb. of 2003, the love of my life changed her mind, and the wedding was off. Heart broken, I went to the resteraunt asking for the deposit back, having noted that I gave them way over a years notice to fill that room. They assured me that when the room was filled, I would get my deposit back.

Well, here it is, a year later, and less than a week to the day that I would have been married, and they tell me that the room is not booked, after all that time. They refuse to give me even a small part of that money back. Imagine, $750.00 just for the half hour it took them to show me the room and scribble my name in a book.

They are hiding behind "company policy" while doing something that at best is greedy, and at worst, is downright WRONG! I will never dine there again, and if anyone knows what I can do to get that money back or smear their reputation, I would most sincerely appreciate it.
