We purchased an expensive antique oriental rug from these people about 6 years ago. At the time we were undecided because we thought we might redecorate and didn't want to spend a whole pile of money and then change decor. So the salesman says, don't worry -- we will buy the rug back from you at the same price, and you can purchase any other rug we have. When we looked skeptical, he called over "the manager", who came over and assured us that this is the case. He said -- of course, we would take be the rug. It is an antique and we won't have to pay shipping charges. These rugs appreciate in value.

That cinched the deal and we bought the rug. A short while back, I called them to tell them we were bringing the rug back in for trade-in and the owners said -- what! we would never have a policy like that and we never said it.

I checked the BBB in RI and there is one other complaint on the website of the same nature. I imagine there are many people out there who bought a rug under false pretenses and some day, they'll get a shock when they go to trade it in.

BBB won't do anything-- they said it's a "he said; she said," situation. They offered me $1000 off another rug -- which is B.S. This is the type of place that sells you a rug for $3000 and gives you an appraisal for $5000.

This place is family run. I love the indigation the owner shows when confronted -- that they would never do such a thing. Only wish it were true!

Live and learn.
