My husband and I bought a puppy from the Pet Stop in Newburgh, NY for our 4 year old son for Christmas...  When we bought the dog, we were told the dog was in perfect health.

My husband did all the paperwork and trusting what they were saying, didn't really read over it and signed it.  On that contract there was nothing stating this puppy had an umbical hernia...  it was written on a vet report that wasn't brought to his attention.

As I was getting all the paperwork together to bring to our vet, I noticed this...  From what my vet tells me, the puppy is ok, this just needs to be dealt with when the dog is neutered unless it reduces on its own...  The dog also has earmites that has to be treated....

When I got home, I called The Pet Stop to talk to them about this and see what we could do (mind you I wasn't asking to return the dog, I wasn't so much concerned about the earmites, just wanted to know that they would help with the cost of this hernia being fixed if and when need be)and was told that my husband was a grown man, he should have read the contract, and that I could bring the dog back or they weren't paying for the surgery.  My response to that is your right, however, when we asked if the dog was in good health, YOUR EMPLOYEE shouldn't have responded with "He is healthy as a whistle", It should have been yes, but, he has a hernia, we will do whatever we can to help with this...

All I am saying is that I have given this place a lot if business since December 2 between buying and starting a salt water aquarium and now the puppy, WHICH WE PAID TOP DOLLAR FOR...  The conditions these dogs are kept in is almost inhumane, my poor puppy's feet which are white, have a yellow tinge to them from walking in urine and feces...  I have had him for a week and a 1/2 and have given him 4 baths already cause the smell is just horrendous...

Just beware and VERY CAUTIOUS if buying a puppy from them...  read over everything with a fine tooth comb...  And immediately take the dog to the vet...  before you or your children develop an attachment to it!
