Hello,
I recently purchased a new type of product From Schalge Lock company called " Schalge Link" Yes the well known Lock brand Schalge. It is a Remotely controlled Home Automation system and Revolutionary Key-less Door Lock that can be controlled over the internet.

It's a Key-less Door lock and a Internet appliance that allows you to control the lock and "other" devices remotely over the INTERNET or through a web enabled Cell phone.

The Door lock is OK actually pretty neat. You can remotely program any of the 19 user codes and even unlock the door from your Cell phone.

The "problem " is that the Schalge website and related advertisements and videos claim that you can also control other devices like Cameras, thermostats, sensors, store and view the video from the Schalge camera remotely. At this time none of those additional items work or are available from Schlage or anyone else. I am paying a monthly fee to use the entire system and yet no discount for not being able to use the other claimed features.

The Schalge system works on a wireless home Automation system called Zwave. Zwave is a interoperable and compatible technology. This means that any Zwave brand device will work with other Zwave branded devices.

I purchased a Zwave thermostat to use with the Schalge system as indicated in the advertisements. It does not work as Schalge is either blocking it's use or they have not figured out how to work these devices yet. I could be that Schlage is delaying this feature until they have a Zwave thermostat of their own to sell. I saw a video of it in action so it really does not make sense. When I click on the thermometer ICON on the Web interface I get a message "Support for thermostats is coming soon. As a Schlage LiNK subscriber, you will be the first to know when we add support for thermostats and other new devices."

Gee wiz its been over three months now and still nothing. I called tech support and one person says May the other says July. I am paying a monthly service for all the features not just some. It's 12.99 plus tax and all I can control is lights and the lock. No camera, no video storage. no use of thermostats. no use of motion sensors or other Zwave sensors as advertised.

I found out today on another forum that Schlage may not allow any current Zwave thermostat to work with the Schlage system. That you will need to use the one they will be selling in the future.

The whole thing about this Zwave stuff is that you can get a Light switch from Leviton ( national brand for switches/dimmers/receptacles) Thermostats from Wayne Dalton, and more from various companies. Allot of this stuff is available at Home Depot and other Big box stores. You get them home and with a controller or TV style remote control they all work together. It does not seem that way with Schalge,They only want you to buy a Schlage product. From what I have read, and my experience Only their products will work with the Schalge system. I know my thermostat and other Zwave sensors do not work at this time.
take a look at the Zwave site.

I complained to Zensys the people who own and license Zwave back in late January 09. The compliance and certification engineer from Zensys told me that at that time that Schalge system had not been certified to use Zwave yet. He told me that they were not supposed to use the Zwave logo until the product passed the Zwave certifications. I heard that it may have passed a few weeks ago ,but I have not been given any proof as it still does not perform like a certified product should. Maybe the new ones on the market are certified but not mine as of yet. The fact that when I purchased the product it had the Zwave logo on it implied that it was certified. To me this is false and a misrepresentation.

In closing I am appalled that such a major company acts in this manner.
I hope they get the message and iron thing out.
Any one affected please reply.
