i have  a power wheel chair from the scooter store, ive had a lot of trouble with it and they do not want to repair it.  this has been going on since june 2011 it is now sept. 25 ,2011. they keep lieing to me about coming out this last time supposed to be out in 7-10 days, it has been over two weeks. i know they charged medicare for repairs and have not done them.

i tried the BBB but that was a waste of time they stuck up for the company individuals dont have a chance.  every time i call the scooter store i get a differant lie.  the  repairs were all okeyed by my insurance  and the sooter store blames the insurance but the truth is they dont want to repair it.  so people beware of the scooter store.

"You're right, contacting the authorities doesn't seem to matter"

The BBB is not 'the authorities'. The BBB is a private organization that accepts payoffs and has no legal authority.

If The Scooter Store is bilking the system then they need to be investigated and prosecuted.

Interesting.  After doing a search, I find that there are 22 separate Ripoff reports on the Scooter Store, and NONE on Hoveround.  As I am in the market for a power chair myself, this pretty much makes up my mind.

Rick, I am so happy to see you, as an ex-employee, step up to the plate and speak out. My family owns a medical supply business and I am BEYOND floored at the amount of Medicare fraud that goes on with The Scooter Store. I've had several customers come to us, having gotten their equipment from The Scooter Store, with "horror" stories.
I, for one, cannot believe that Medicare hasn't realized this. How can they not see the situation at hand?  Even after The Scooter has been in mulitiple multi million dollar lawsuits.
And it's funny when you mention the whole service call ordeal. I get phone calls constantly from people stating that The Scooter Store will not go out to their home and fix their equipment. OR that The Scooter Store sold them a used chair with cigarette burns in it.
I'll keep it at that.
Again, thank you Rick! I'm so happy to see an ex-employee step up! All of our suspicions have been proven true.

Scooter Store doesn't care about service

The Scooter Store only makes money when they deliver new chairs.  They do NOT make money when they service chairs that were previously deliver.  In fact, service on these chairs come out of their profits, so of course they're not going to rush right out to lose money!!  Try to get service at the end of any month!  Forget it!!  They shut service off so that they can make as many new deliveries as possible.  Again, they only make money on new deliveries.   Just wait until they try to push a "loaner" on you while they "repair" your chair.  They want to do this because they can charge Medicare 800 dollars for the loaner for a period of only 2 days!!!!  They claim to completely go over your chair to troubleshoot any problems.  What a crock!!  They take it back to the shop, clean it a little, fix any obvious problems then return it to you.  By doing this, they bill MCR the 800 dollars PLUS any parts changed and labor involved.  Chances are when they return your chair, you are going to experience more problems in the near future.  Their "technicians" or "Mobility and Service Specialists" are NOT TRAINED!!!  It's simply a matter of replacing parts to see if it works.  They replace many parts that do not fix the problem, yet they still charge Medicare for this.  They are ripping off Medicare on a daily basis.  You're right, contacting the authorities doesn't seem to matter!!  The Scooter Store claims to be the good guys and they do everything right.  This "Always Do the Right Thing" mentality is on paper only.  They talk a really good game, but they are out to rip off Medicare.  What other company takes their employees on a cruise to Cozumel Mexico for their 15th anniversary at a cost of over a million dollars!!  Guess who paid for that trip!!!  YOU DID!!

People need to wise up and start reporting this fraud from The Scooter Store.  Until they do, they're going to keep ripping off the government.   Write to Doug Harrison at his beautiful ranch and tell him he needs to stop this fraud.  Oh yes, he has a beautiful ranch............guess who paid for it.  YOU DID!!!
