This couple preys on unsuspecting, good honest truck drivers. They hired my wife and I to drive their tractor/trailer for FedEX Custom Critical about a year ago. We hired on as company drivers working for a percentage of the load pay...minus the fuel surcharge and tolls paid.
This worked for us because we were earning good pay at this rate. Later, they informed us that WE would now be purchasing the fuel, and in return we would earn a higher percentage.
This also worked for us until I started paying attention to the numbers (our pay). They were keeping 35% of what the truck grossed. This amount INCLUDED the fuel surcharge and tolls. Which means they were profiting every time the price of fuel increased.
When THEY were buying the fuel, we got 40% minus the fuel surcharge...when WE were buying the fuel they paid us a percentage including the surcharge. You cant have it both ways can you?
Not only that...our paychecks were nothing but a personal check. Payable from them to us. No details, no percentages..load numbers. Nothing. We had no idea what we were getting paid for, and still do not to this day.
These people let us go the day my wife and I purchase our very first truck. Our guess is because their percentage would decrease and they were also concerned about our "asking questions" about our pay.
This crooked couple has 15 other unsuspecting husband/wife team drivers, and that is how they make their money. There's a lot more to this story...not enough room to write it.They should be exploited for the cons they are....to Fed EX Custom Critical, and the general public.

Not sure of the total circumstances here, but I have to totally 100% disagree with everything in this statement. Started approximately the same time as this team did and we have had nothing but success. The owners are great and caring people and have helped us along the way. They have always made sure that the teams are taking home at least 40% of the run. As you may realize in the trucking world, there are lot of people who blow smoke. I'm not saying they are, however, a bad crooked company is something like Schneider, or J.B. Hunt, not a company where your pay is what you make of it. As far as unsuspecting, there are quite a few of us "happy" teams here who will stand up and say they work for a great company. Its unfortunate that there are those out there who don't understand, don't want to understand, and will continue to hop from company to company, always finding something new to complain about. But no hard feelings from us, and I can quite guarantee the owners are of the same mind, wishing them nothing but luck.
