The Standard Legal Network, scam, theft, fraud, false advertising, fraudulent, lies, last will and testament ripoff Cleveland Ohio
While looking for software to help me create a Last Will and Testament, I found what looked like the perfect product advertised here: http://www.standardlegal.com/Last-Will-and-Testament.html
Upon purchasing this piece of "Legal Forms Software," I received a download link just as I was promised.
I soon discovered, however, that the "Software" I had purchased was actually just a few text and PDF documents for me to print up and fill out by hand.
I was denied a refund because I had already downloaded the "software."
There was no software in the download, only a floppy disk's worth of text that I could have found elsewhere for free. This is clearly a case of deliberate false advertising.

My Experience With Standard Legal
#6Consumer Comment
Tue, November 15, 2011
I am writing to let you know that I had a very good experience with Standard Legal. I needed to file for bankruptcy and I was absolutely broke! I went to several bankruptcy attorneys and I was being charged in the area of $800 to $1500. For these attorneys to even look at my paper work I had to leave a deposit of $200. I said to myself "I can read, I can write why can I just do it myself?" I searched several "Do it yourself" compaines and came across Standard Legal.
In my inexperience I wasn't sure if my bankruptcy filing was complex or straight foward but through reading and studying information on this subject I realized my case was straight foward (no complicated assets, estate etc.) This is where Standard Legal was great. I looked over the information they had on bankruptcy, looked in their library for terminology I didn't understand and downloaded the forms. I filled them out, took it to the court house, no issues!! I saved hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. I even helped two other people by recommending Standard Legal Forms.
You have to remember these are "Do It Yourself" forms. This requires research and effort in your part. Standard Legal is not an attorneys office. If your case is complicated and you want attorney perfect filings then spend the money and stop complaining! Standard Legal offered me the info and forms that I needed to complete my own filing in my state. Nothing more nothing less.
I do not work, or ever have worked for Standard Legal. But I like the service they offer and I recommend there services to others. I like what they do so much I might even consider selling there services myself.

DO NOT PUCHASE from them--------- They sell you FREE legal forms as "software"
Rip Off:
From time to time we find faulty or false companies a long the way and would like to pass this knowledge on.
standardlegal.com offers "Premarital Agreement Software" for $17.95 on thier Website.
The "so-called" software is nothing more than 3 folders, filled with 3 types of "documents", with no SOFTWARE to be found. ALL the Documents are available ONLINE for FREE... The only difference is that their documents allow you to fill in the blanks to fill in your premarital agreement yourself, nothing more than the actual FREE documents available that have been Highlighted for you!
So unless you need help recognizing that the "underline" on the actual form means that you write there, then this form is pretty worthless.
I have written Standard Form toinquire where the "software" was they continue to claim that the software is there in the form of "documents" lol.
Documents are Documents and Software is Software. I get tax Software every year and I fill is simple blanks that make up a confusing legal document for me. Not provide me a highlighted document that I need MS Office to utilize.

Standard Legal [http://www.StandardLegal.com] has been in business for over seven years. In that time, we have sold thousands of downloadable legal form software titles covering topics like Last Will and Testament, Bankruptcy, Deeds, Employee Manuals, Divorce, Incorporation, Land Contracts and many more.
We have page after page of unsolicited testimonials [http://www.StandardLegal.com/testimonials.html] from people across the country who have read our website, purchased our software, followed the instructions provided, and quickly and easily created the legal documents they desired.
So, dear reader, please allow us the courtesy of this reply.
Mr. J states that he received "a few PDF and text documents" for his $14.95 purchase price, then he slanders our business using a number of over-the-top words.
Our Last Will and Testament website page [http://www.standardlegal.com/Last-Will-and-Testament.html] clearly states in multiple locations the types of files that will be provided after purchase: each of our documents are provided in Microsoft Word, Adobe PDF and standard text file software formats. (We even show logos of these three software formats on our sales pages and provide links to sample documents in those very formats in our FAQs.)
Included in our Last Will and Testament package, we provide over a dozen different Will documents for a variety of specific personal situations (each in the three software formats!), all written by highly-qualified attorneys and kept up-to-date for every state in the USA. All for just $14.95.
If Mr. J could have found Will documents of such quality for free on the web, he would have done so. But quality legal documents so thoroughly vetted, professionally crafted, AND GUARANTEED FOR VALIDITY do not exist for free.
Mr. J received professionally-written, thoroughly reviewed, and up-to-date Last Will and Testament documents that take about 10 minutes to complete. The documents provided match exactly what our website states will be provided. It is impossible to be "fraudulent" as Mr. Johnson so recklessly claims when we state clearly, frequently and in advance the type of product that will be provided for the purchase price.
If Mr. J would have taken just a couple of minutes to review the content and professional forms he downloaded and then filled out the specific form that matched his situation, he would have created for himself a complete, legal and valid Last Will and Testament document in about 10 minutes, for less than $15. (A qualified attorney would require an hour-long meeting to create the same customized document, and would charge about $125 to do so.)
Instead of completing a valid Will for himself, Mr. J chose to spend those same 10 minutes complaining about Standard Legal on this website, all the while disregarding the facts of our site, its products, our company and his purchase.
All we ask any person reading this page is that you please review our website at http://www.StandardLegal.com on your own and judge our offerings for yourself. We believe you will find that Mr. J's assessment of our company and its products to be wholly incorrect and without a shred of merit.
