I read the message on this site from other guy, who had the dealing with this company.

I got their info the same way he did, when I set up my LLC with another company. And you have an option to get consultation from these guys, which supposedly provide tax services.

They make all kinds of claims on the phone, that they don't fulfill. Supposedly there is booking software that you can use – but it is horrible, useless – you better off using excel. The access to the site they give you – is a joke. It basically has links to recent news and place to submit you year return. You'd have to do everything yourself. If you notice on the site there is no phone number.

They schedule orientation with you, on which the schedule a phone appointment - redundancy to have a visibility that they do services for you. On you second appointment you have another sales call for their online booking software for another something like $1200 or $1700 (they say, that access to that will help their associates to see your books in real time – though the fact that I can e-mail them that in real time, without having to pay that money – made my Sales guy Mike very mad) – if you don't buy them – you'll make the sales person mad.

After receiving all those promises and wasting all that time to get anything fulfilled I requested a refund – it's been for over 2 month – no service, no money, no respond.

Don't give up! Thanks for your response...I didn't have to go to Attorney General or BBB or anything. I got my full refund! I posted the update on my ripoff report that I filed originally on 9/21. My situation was a little different from yours since I had immediately filed for a refund shortly after (within 24 hours) of signing up with the Tax Club. I encourage you to continue posting updates and do what you can on this. I was able to keep all my documentation and records on my case. Maybe you can get more victims to come forward and you can fight it together.

Jennifer,

I didn't sign engagement agreement with them. They didn't perform any services for me either.
So I guess the grounds for my suit, would be slightly different. There is guy named John on this site who has the same problem and he wouldn't mind to file class law suit too Did you file complaint with BBB and AG and consumer protection? I haven't yet, but at this point I am going to.

I have a suggestion!

#17Consumer Suggestion

Fri, September 22, 2006

I have dealt with the same company and undergoing a problem with them. Please see my own thread and complaint that I posted.

This is the exact same method they sold this service to me!!! I was looking to form an LLC and was looking for a tax service/consultant. They told me they were affiliated with the Learning Annex and said that the price offered was based on a discount that was paid for by the Learning Annex through a seminar that I had purchased with them.

I would suggest you contact the organization that they told you they got your information from, you may find out that that organization isn't affiliated with the Tax Club at all and sold you their service on false statements, like they did with me.

Based on this, we should be able to do take this to court and argue their Terms and Conditions are not legal and valid, therefore contract should be void. I would be open to filing a class action lawsuit for everyone sold these services based on false and misleading statements and deceptive practices. I am hoping to help others against them.

I would like to notify the IRS too... I read that was a suggestion. Hmm, maybe a good one to try. Let me know if I can do anything to help with your case. I'm preparing to build mine.

Era,

Again thank you for posting about this company!

(You did let them know that you posted a complaint on this site? You might want to mention it in passing just to see what happens.)

I am glad to hear about Bank of America treating you well. But you should keep in mind that there are other people who have had problems with BoA.

Please read ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff209925.htm and you will have a better understanding about banks.

After reading your post, I could only gather that you are making investments and looking to maximize your money. These very trying times, President Bush and the Republicans have record spending deficits which will affect any investments that you have. So please be very careful.

In less than six years, Bush and the Republicans have spent five times more than Clinton did for his entire eight years of office. This is not good!

As long as oil stays on its current path of lower prices, the stock should do well. But once oil starts going back up in price the stocks will go down. This is not good!

I have a relative who a manager for a multi-million dollar California County retirement fund and after he retired I asked him for advice.

What he told me caused concern, he said that he had no idea what to tell me and that there was not a single person in this country who had an idea as to what is going on!

Era, there will be a lot of people who will sound as if they have the answer. Please be careful with your money. If it sounds good, be careful. If it sounds really good, be very careful.

You can file a complaint with the BBB with your computer, don't expect anything from them but I would still encourage you to file ASAP.

Like the BBB, the State Attorney General will not do anything but I would still encourage you to file with all of the Attorney General's in New York, Arizona and Florida.

In closing: You do know that you can turn a dishonest company in to the Internal Revenue Service? File a report with the IRS and inform them about the scheme. Let them know who the names of the officers for the company that ripped you off.

Era, any company that calls themselves the Tax Club, deserves the attention of the IRS!

Good Luck

John,

Thanks for your support. I haven't gone to attorney general or consumer protection or BBB.
I am aware of the option, but reluctant to invest more time in it. May be, if more people submit reports about this company it will have more weight for Attorney General's office to consider it in the future. My recent experience with public official showed me that they rather close their eyes on the problem.

Last week and yesterday I was at public hearing for the proposed taxes on real property. While Bush putting caps on high income entities and individuals, middle class investor and not homesteaded homeowner in Florida have their taxes doubled! or tripled!. And at the hearing elected officials point fingers in different directions (including State government-(Bush?)), but nothing is being done and average consumer and investor is getting squeezed and have to tighten their belt. I can go on the subject, but it is not the purpose of this forum :).

Anyway, hopefully potential customers of this company will Google it and find these rip off reports.
Also my bank Bank of America took care of this it in 2 days. I have to say - Bank of America has been very good to me and stepped up on many occasions for me.

Irina,

It is a shame that New York has such a weak State Attorney General who refuses to go after companies like, The Tax Club.

Yes, I know that the Eliot Spitzer has gone after huge companies in very high profile cases, but he hasn't done anything for you or I, has he? That is so typical of today's Democrats.

I hate to say it but this is an excellent example of the Republican Revolution!

The Republicans are very pro business and the consumer who has been ripped off has no where too turn or go to. Heck the Republicans stopped prosecuting companies that hire illegal aliens, so do you think that they would do something about this company?

I am sorry that you got mixed up with such a rip-off company.

Thank you for reporting them on this site.

Below is the respond I got from them after more than month a half of reviewing my request. They didn't surprise me with this letter. Since, I already read the report on this site from other guy.

I requested the explanation of bases for their decision, based on my particular account from their account audit specialist Todd Lovelace. NO respond, naturally. But obviously I can request a refund again. Wait another 2 month and I might get lucky. I hope whoever reads this report - reads it on time to prevent such time a money waste. You better off going to your local CPA office pay about $1000 and have him or her do your returns.

The tax club respond (with my comments next to the factors they a thoroughly reviewed and considered):

Thank you for your recent request for cancellation and refund of your Tax Club membership. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we processed your request. Your membership, per your request, has been cancelled and no further billing will occur.
In regards to your refund request, we have conducted a thorough review of your account. Our review process includes taking into consideration the following factors:

Fulfillment of Terms of Guarantee (I haven't file the tax return with them so there is none)
Length of time in Tax Club membership (less then a month)
Services provided (none)
Consultations provided (first one half a hour of free consultation )
Utilization of membership services (none, they haven't answered my e-mails on tax subject)
Account History (2 sales calls and one appointment scheduling)
Acceptance of Terms and Conditions ( I didn't accept them, never sent them out)
After careful review and consideration of all relevant factors, we have determined your account to be ineligible for refund at this time.

If you have any additional information you would like us to consider, please feel free to contact us by phone at 888-558-6829. We are available to assist you Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Arizona time. If you would prefer, you may send an email to Client Services at clientcare@thetaxclub.com. The information will be added to your account notes and a secondary review will be conducted.
