The Window Pros RIPOFF Not what it seems Allentown Pennsylvania

Just want to let everyone out there know that not only is the sales pitch a scam, but the windows are one too.

The advertising home sales pitch is just a ploy... there is no advertising budget, its just a way to make you feel like you are getting a good deal... The reality of it is that the windows are so over priced, that they can drop thousands of dollars.

Next, the people who come to your door are actually sales people, not advertising reps. They are on comm. and they dont have any other advertising homes in the area... Its all a lie!!!

The basic goal is to get you to sign the first night, and they will do anything... They will tell you that they can finance you at any price... Well if you get 17,000 dollars worth of windows at 150 dollars a month... thats alot of financing... how many years will that be??? plus the usual rate is over 10%... how is that worth it...

Another thing is dont be blow away by the glass... Several other companys produce the same glass for less money... They say the miracle glass is one of a kind... its actually just a standard low-e glass... in the sample kits they bring to the house the glass is actually thicker then what is really used... this is why you cant feel heat through the glass during the demo... Also the glass breaks with ease... dont be fooled by the nail!!!

Things to watch out for:
1- Custom windows- no such thing... a double hung is a double hung... there isnt a difference in size between 34 and 36 inch window... ever company does a standard frame.
2- Glass- ever piece of glass has a pressure point... it all breaks so dont be fooled...*****Miracle glass does not met code as tempered glass!!! it costs alot more!!!*****
3- Warranty- the warranty is only trans. to the next owner... Not for the life of the home...
4- Dont be fooled by give aways... its built into the costs

The glass is not anything special... Other companies make the same product...

In or around 2009, 4 windows were installed for 2 bedrooms in my home. The windows were not installed properly. This was determined after both bedrooms were gutted out and it was found that the wood was rotted under all 4 windows. My two young boys have been sharing a room with me for almost 2 years now due to the mold problem and I have finally saved up the 5K needed to renovate their rooms. After finding out the source of the mold, I called Allentown Window Pro's and found they are no longer in business. I was referred to James, at Green Eco Solutions. James advised me that his company is handling the warranty issues for Allentown Window Pro's. I explained the situation to James, that at this time, I am not looking for compensation for the damage caused from the faulty installation but that I request the windows are properly reinstalled so that I do not have future interior home damage. James was immediately "stand-offish" and advised I should not believe my contractor - that he will send his "expert"  who will make the final decision.

After a "no-show", the expert named TOM showed up for pictures. Tom advised there is a definite situation with the window installation which can be seen from the outside of the windows. The water sits on the ledge and goes in and
underneath the flashing. Today, I followed up with James from Green Eco Solutions. He advised he will get paid from the "fund" for sending his expert to my home but is not using money from this fund to repair the warranty issue. Regardless of what the expert told me, James feels there is no relatedness between the initial installation and water coming in at the window sill. James was insulting while I remained calm and courteous. James even threw insults and claimed I am uneducated. Meanwhile, I just want my windows fixed so that my boys can breathe safely.

We've had BAD experience with Ben Torres

#19Consumer Comment

We've had a bad experience also with Ben Torres aka Decks4Less and Ben's Home Improvements. He has a HORRIBLE reputation in the Home Improvement business in this area. His "sales pitch" is that he does the work himself. That is only because he can't find anyone willing to work with him or do his jobs because he doesn't pay! He uses a different crew on every job he manages to fool homeowners into giving him.

He is full of colorful "stories" - most people would call them BOLD FACE LIES!!!!

So please take what he says about this company for what it's worth...NOTHING!!!

He's not from this area, but claims to have been here over a decade. In the past decade hasn't been able to maintain any relationships - personnally or professionally!!! NO FRIENDS or FAMILY or CONNECTIONS!

THAT SPEAKS VOLUMNS ABOUT WHAT KIND OF MAN HE IS!

Ontario born guy in Pennsylvania... Not meet "code"! Have you ever worked for a Window Company?!

I can't fathom how this person thinks this company does not have an advertising budget!
They do, and for a good reason. Their product surpasses others, sorry but that is the truth. They now offer a "Neat" glass, of which surpasses the former "Miracle" glass, he needs to get his facts straight! Their warranty also surpasses others. If you want all the bells and whistles, that is up to the homeowner! How many other companies offer self cleaning windows?!?   Quality and delivery.
The comment about sales strategy is a moot point. All businesses and companies know that when the sale is made with the least effort, more money is earned. One deal, one meeting, one shaking of the hands. This is a science in sales that has been well established over time, what on Earth is this guy rambling on about?
Yes, finance 17K for windows that will save your home, save yourself, and save your money, while increasing the value of your home... wah.. wah.. wah! I could poke at using spell check, however I will close with this... Perhaps this Pennsylvania Native Ontario Lad might live through a Hurricane one day, then come see me! And have some other companies windows in his home, down here! Testimonials speak for themselves!

I have worked in this industry for over 16 yrs. installed many different brands of windows. you are probly really mad because thats a really high price but alot they say is true beleive it or not. there miracle glass is sold to them exclusively. did you find another brand window that has it? it is not tempered. i dont think they try to sell it tempered. its probly an option when buying.
ALL replacement windows from whatever window place you buy it is custom made. when they measure your opening for a size then thats the exact size you get. thats custom made. Yes alot of companies make a standard size but it may be a little too small or a little to big. the heat lamp test is not a scam. been there dont that. worked an expo once with a window that didnt let heat in. alot of people didnt beleive it untill they burned there hand on the lamp, lol.
you should have done your research first. and got 2 other estimates. yes you can buy a replacement window at home depot for $140 not installed. but you get what you pay for. i have installed them also in a customers duplex. he picked up the windows i installed them. 2 yrs later he hates them. no savings on heat. window doesnt operate smooth anymore. screens fallen apart. vinyl cracking.
I could go on and on. you should have found a window company that will install the window you want after researching windows. and a company that doesnt have sales person. thats how they get paid so yes its gonna cost more(no scam) he has to get paid too.

PETTY DISPUTE or THOSE WHO LIVE IN GLASS HOMES SHOULD NOT TOSS ROCKS

#19UPDATE EX-employee responds

Tue, February 03, 2009

I have worked for many home improvement companies over my years in the Charlotte area and I have seen it all. This is a case of a bitter ex-employee trying to get a little revenge on an ex-employer.

Ben Torres is the gentleman who is claiming all types of dismay at The Window Pros. Ben is an ex-employee whom I have worked with. I do not want to kick up any dust here, but I will say, there is a VERY good reason as to why Ben Torres is an EX EMPLOYEE.

I will simply provide a few facts for any readers to digest.

- Ben Torres owns his own Home Improvement Company www.benshomeimprovments.com
- Ben Torres is NOT registered with the local BBB.
- On the BBB web site his company, Bens Home Improvements, (or as he is listed here NCDECKS4LESS) has a C- rating.

Hmmmm, why would the BBB give him a C- rating? Here is the actual text from the BBB website:

BENS HOME IMPROVMENTS
BBB Rating C-

Based on BBB files, this business has a BBB Rating of C-.

Reasons for this rating include:
Number of complaints filed against businesses that were not resolved.
BBB does not have sufficient information to determine how long this business has been operating.
BBB does not have sufficient background information on this business.

Wow. Kind of looks like Ben is not really someone who runs his business well, doesn't it. Maybe Ben is the kind of guy who thinks by kicking up a little dust at another company's expense is a good way to generate business for himself.

By the way, I looked up The Window Pros, and they ARE with the BBB and they have an A- rating.

I don't work for The Window Pros any more, I have gone into business for myself, but I could not just sit here and watch someone try to burn another company unjustly.

Thanks for reading.

Thank you for being the rip off type of business you've always been for it has taught me very important lessons in what not to do in business. Thank you for continuing to do business as you do for it makes it so easy for me to bring in new customers (many) that you couldn't scam. Yes, I always get calls from people who have unfortunately allowed your vultures in only to kick them out and then eventually call me. So I urge you to not change a thing in how you do business for it has become a free lead generating machine for me these past feew years. Oh, and Jeffrey Lavoie, you can keep the $3 thousand plus dollars you never paid me on earned commissions for I believe I have more than received my monies!

I find this to be so sad, a desperate attempt to make a company with such a bad reputation look innocent. Oh Jeffrey, please try something a bit more original and stop hiding behind your loyal puppies! Everyone knows how your company has ripped off customers and continue to do so. Its no secret and I am the most qualified person that has all the proof for anyone to see for themselves. I have a true legitimate and successful business, a nice home, rental properties, a great wife and a great life! Jeffrey Lavoie had approached me while I was working out at the Mooresville YMCA and foolishly threatened me and made mention of this site. he looked enraged and quite upset. It might be because lots of his lost business from educated consumers came to me. Thank you Jeffrey for giving me the great pleasure of now knowing how much I had affected you and your business. You don't have to pay me the $3,465.12 commission check that you owed me. I believe I have been paid back quite well, thanks to you, your business and your mouth!

I must say you make yourself sound very stupid. I myself worked for the company in question. You on the other hand never did. You are referring to a company based out of NC which has nothing to do with "Allentown Window Pros". I think you should try reading the post prior to making a false comment that could affect someone elses life. I wish I knew the name of your "GREAT" business because I would post some ignorant s**t about your company like you did this company. Next I would like to say to all the people that worked there and felt it was such a "rip off" why the hell did you stay working there. And to the retard that didnt like how he drove some run down car while the owner drove a 100K+ car I must tell you that is by far one of the stupidist things I ever heard in my life. If you work at microsoft do you think bill should by you a house as big as his? Do you really think that this guy who has spent years building a business and worked hard should drive the same type of car as a cry baby b***h? And to the original poster of this, if you really fell there is no such thing as a custom window then you shouldnt even be allowed to post on here. Do you really fell windows only come in even number sizes of just inches? Have you ever been to the factory where the windows are made? They are most def. custom made to each individual customer and I personally know that for a fact. So all of you people should get your facts straight before you post frivolous crap about a company.

I used to work for this company and was actually one of their "Star" closers

#19UPDATE EX-employee responds

Tue, November 11, 2008

I am very pleased to see that someone took the time and effort to report on a company that I felt very ashamed to work for. Yes, I was motivated by the money and the hype at first but after entering too many homes that are owned by fixed-income elderly folks and having them sign contracts that would cause them to have to pay for their windows through a loan for the next 20 years or so, I started to really feel sick to my stomach. I was so disgusted that I really got sick and was sent to the hospital. The year that I worked for them I was actually the one person that outsold virtually everyone in the company. I was still driving a used car while the owners drove new 100K + vehicles and lived in million-dollar homes. I was considered their golden egg laying goose! After a great deal of research I have come to learn that the glass I was showing in the home was not at all what was installed in the home and the window was actually much cheaper-looking than what I saw at a local Lowes or Home Depot store. The Window Pros were always about gimmick selling and certainly a true bait and switch operator. I remembered when they were at full throttle with thier telemarketing division and I remembered sitting down and listening to what these telemarketers would say and I knew it was all a lie! They would promise home owners $200 worth of grocery coupons and not one salesman ever gave any home owner coupons and only left the home owner with a barely legible copy of a confusing form for the home owner to fill out in order to get coupons mailed to them. The owner of this company by the way is named Mike Mason and his then partner was Jeff Lavoy. These two rip off con artist should be thrown in jail and its amazing that this operation is still active, particualry in the Charlotte, NC marketplace. Fortunately for me, I have already been self employed as a home remodeling business, fully insured and I do take pride in providing quality work for my many customers. I do take many video-recorded testimonials of my many customers and I have never been in a court room,..EVER! I sell the same (actually better) windows that they sell for much less, a whole lot less in fact! Someone needs to put that operation out of business! I think a local televised new piece will do just fine!

Can't resolve

#19Consumer Comment

Tue, October 21, 2008

If you will read the companies response, they want to resolve the issue. Their point is that the OP made accusations without letting them know who is making them so they can respond.

I agree with the owner on this one.

Pretty cowardly to make accusations without giving the company a chance to work with them.

I seriously doubt you even had an order.

I can't believe what I read. In response to a frustrated customer, you want to take him to court, instead of regaining a friend. Such a mind set doesn't demo anything good on your part. Why don't you try resolving the issue, showing some empathy and work to recover a customer and a friend. Based on your response, I think I will cancel my order.

Defamation of character

#19REBUTTAL Owner of company

Thu, September 27, 2007

I simply ask that this individual provide his full name and address so that WP can address these accusations through the court system.

Remarks about the glass, the advertising program and such come from an individual who feels the need to hide behind a fake name and will not come forward to spend $ and file against the company. These allegations would fall under "bate and switch" tatics and would be very serious issues with the legal system. Yet WP has none and this individual simply makes these unproven and unfounded remarks.

I have given this complaint to attorney Scott Allinson to find out who this person is and to take action? I lost a sale becasue of this only to have the customer after I spoke to her understand the motivation of the complaint and then continued to move forward with the contract! WP and its attorneys are taking this very serious.

This site not being a legal entity or government entity allows for this type of information to be posted without possible recourse. If I said that this person was gay or killed someone I could be sued for defamation of his/her character or more!!!. This person simply writes information with no validity and does not have to answer to anyone for it. I feel this is very wrong. I am willing to come to the table in a court room and clarify and clear every single meaningless accusation.

ARE YOU?

I remain a dedicated employer for over 20 years and my father, brother, sister and me take our family busienss very, very serious! If you attack it then you are attacking us! I can handel a service problem or a customer thought a door was one color and we ordered it wrong or an employeee is unhappy about a problem. You have 5 family members in this business and we can address and handle these daily but when soemone throws this out there and we cannot address it but in this forum it is very frustrating!

Again, I would so much enjoy the one on one to review each accusation and then as I prove them invalid a letter of retraction should be required. I ask for your full name and address and phone like I GAVE MINE so we can speak in person and not hide behind fake names. Just that alone should make everyone question how valid these complaints are. The business owner is KNOWN!! The individual writing this is not.

AS I review the bullet points in the complaint, I can see this individual is extremely confused. All windows are 34 or 36 inches, no such thing as custom made. Several companies have the same glass. This is just a disgruntled employee of which I understand being a business owner. It is going to happen but when you make up such false information and simply just send it to anyone who will listen is not fair to the business man.

Sincerely

Joe Stoffey
