Well the whole situation started with a bounced rent check. My mother has been writing my monthly rent check because I do not have a checking account. Every month I give her the money for my rent and she writes me a check to give to my rental office. Well on February 3, 2002 I took my rental office the rent check for February. A couple days later on the 5th, my mother called me and told me that we had a problem with the rent check. She said that she had ordered some clothing from Chadwicks on deferred billing and they had put her order thru a week too early. Well because she had not planned on this transaction to go thru her account for another week the funds were not available, therefore causing my rent check to bounce and several other checks of hers to bounce. As soon as I hung up the phone with her, I notified my rental office. My propery manager said that she hadn't recieved a notice from the Corporate Office yet saying that the check had bounced. I asked her what she would like for me to do. She stated that I should bring her a money order for the full amount of my rent and I should also include the service charge for a returned check. So that Friday, 2/8, I took a money order in for the amount that I was instructed to do. Before the money order was turned over to the manager, I asked REPEATED times if the check was going to be RE-DEPOSITED, she assured me NUMEROUS times that it would NOT be. So I gave her the money order. Thinking that I had done my part to make a bad situation good, the following Tuesday I got a rude awakeing. My mother had called me to tell me that we had an ugly situation on our hands. She said that
T & R Properties had RE-DEPOSITED the check that they said they were NOT going to. And the mess begins. Because they had redeposited the check it caused a domino effect on my mothers checking account. It ended up bouncing 5 checks and causing over $150.00 in bank fees. Because my mom is like most hard working americans she lives paycheck to paycheck and the $150.00 in bank fees about killed her. So I called the Corporate office of T & R Prop. and spoke with 3 different women. To make a really long story short, all 3 women were in agreement as to the fact that they say we 1. Should not have bounced the check in the first place 2. That we had bounced the check on purpose because we didn't have the money 3.It was the banks fault for re-depositing the check, that they had nothing to do with it. Well upon my research, I contacted the bank which they bank with and asked them what their procedures were on corporate accounts and returned checks. A rep for the bank told me that a check is always returned to the customer UNLESS the CUSTOMER REQUESTS that the check be REDEPOSITED! SO what it comes down to is this, T & R Properties made an error and now my mother and I are paying for it!

I am sorry that you feel that I am immature, and as a result of that this situation has occured. That is incorrect. Reguardless of how mature or immature I am, the company lied to both my mother and I, and they should have to pay the penalties. Thanks for your suggestion. Maybe you should take your own advice.

It's your fault for not having a checking account in the first place and putting your mother into this bad situation. If you want to live on your own, then YOU need to be responsible for your own finances, and this means having your own checking account. Also, why didn't you just get money orders every month anyway, instead of going through your mother? Didn't want to pay that extra dollar for the service? Now look what your immaturity has cost you and your mother. Quit crying and relying on mommy so much and grow the hell up, or else just move back home.
