The Yeaveley Estate of Ashbourne Derbyshire

My first traumatic experience of the Yeaveley Estate was over 15 years ago when I witnessed an injury during a lesson I was part off. A gentleman turned around with his shotgun loaded and discharged his gun into the foot of a young girl. Luckily the girl escaped with her life but will have problems walking for the rest of her days. The Health and safety report concluded that this could of been prevented if safety procedures had been followed by Mr. Guy Field.

Last year July 23rd 2014 - I purchased a day’s fishing on the trout pond at Yeaveley estate for my husband’s birthday. During the booking process Mr. Guy Field would not except payment by card or check. Only Cash. I asked about the payment options and he responded " Only Cash will do" "Cash is King" My husband assured me that the day he went fishing there was no fish in the pond, and further enquiries revealed that the pond had not been restocked in the last 10 years and it is common knowledge that Mr. Guy Field falsely advertises the trout fishing and he knows that there is no fish in the pond.

Finally this year I was invited to a Hen party at the Yeavely Estate. The party was 25 women all excited. This was soon to become a horror movie! On the first day we were given Rice and Chicken for lunch by Mrs Leslie Field. We continued throughout the day with the activities which was also farcical - the Quad bikes never worked, the generator ran out of petrol, the shotgun we used for the clay shooting was so heavy many of us could not lift it and it was very stiff and difficult to open. We all decided to retire to our tents by 6pm as it was dark and there was no lighting anywhere, the only lighting we had was the torches some of us brought along. All hell broke loose at around 1pm the following morning 14 of the party had been struck down with food poisoning!! On site there was 1 portaloo with no toilet role, the party was vomiting and defecating all over and around the tents. It was like a scene from the exorcist. When one of the other ladies informed Leslie Field of the situation she responded by saying " It can’t be the food I am fine" "Then again I do have a cast iron stomach" ! Wow how insensitive is this woman. We had no other option but to call the ambulance service, we had 7 ambulances onsite and during this stage Guy & Leslie stayed in bed. The following morning I requested a full refund due to everyone being poisoned - Guy Field refused this and said that "we are lucky not to be getting a cleaning bill"!!!!!!

This Tyrant must be stopped; he is not declaring monies to HMRC, time and time again people keep falling victim to his greed. Friends and other people will be responding to this report with their personal experiences of the Yeaveley Estate.

Shooting Lessons/Assessment

Last year for my 18th birthday my granny invested in 6 shooting lessons for me, its something I have always wanted to do. I decided to attend the 6 lessons on every Thursday morning. I had a vision that by the end of the lessons, I could really show my father & granny how well I had progressed.

On lesson 1 I arrived early and very excited. I was greated by Guy the teacher, who was driving a mobility scooter. Guy needed this to move around in this way, as he informed me that over the years the amount of deer stalking he has done has worn away his hip joint!

The lessons seemed to go quite well apart from every other clay trap the batteries were dead and I had to settle with shooting the same targets every week as the traps had not been repaired. On a few occasions he had to connect the traps to his mobility scooter to give them power to work! Like the other post revealed the Gun I used was very very heavy and difficult to open. I pressume this again is through lack of maintenance - the same as the traps.

On Lesson 6 I attended with my granny and father who came to observe my progress. The lesson covered, shooting etiquette, and final assessment. Again as in the previous lessons none of the traps were working - not even 1 trap was working as it had been frosty the night before and all the car batteries were dead. Guy made a call to his wife to come down to the ground and assist. He made his wife stand on top of the shooting lodge and throw the clays like a frisbee over my head - Guy said " Come on this will have to do" Well the wife could not throw the clays very far so I had to stand literally underneath her. This was no test for me because, I knew she was about to throw a clay by hearing the "Grunting noise" Just as she threw a clay I heard this almighty bang and crash and scream, the wife had fallen threw the lodge roof and onto the floor. The roof was not strong enough to support her body weight, I predict she must of easily been knocking down the door of 18 stone.

To summarize not a pleasent experience and deeply dissapointed. I will be not attending that place again.
