RCA will not acknowledge that DLP has a major design flaw. Anyone owning a RCA DLP model(and some other brands of DLP HDTV) will have a color filtering wheel that will fail. It's only a matter of time when it does. This mechanical wheel spins at approximately 120 rpm's. Depending on the home or business enviroment, this rotating wheel will start to fail as it picks up dust, dander, pet hair and especially cigarette smoke.

Even the normal air pollution will affix to the wheel and throw off its rotation. This will be made known to the end user by the high pitched noise that will start at low levels and will eventulally go to an intolerable level. This problem will always be present until the color wheel is put into an air tight enviroment.

I've tried to get RCA to work with me on this problem, but now the unit is off warranty, I'm stuck with a 61" lemon. Today I was told that the Geek Squad would fix the problem for $538.00. This would only fix the problem for 4-6 months(best case scenario).

This info is just to inform others that this problem exists. I suggest waitng for the digital technology to get rid of the mechanical parts. . . its the DLP's weakness link.
