My Lyra MP3 player stopped working last week (8-10-05). I took it to the local battery store to purchase a replacement battery.

The manager informed me that the battery had a device (very small circuit board) integrated into the battery and could only be purchased from the manufacture.

called Thompson and was told no replacement batteries were available. They offered to trade my unit in for a new one for $99.00.

I paid over $200 for mine a year ago. I can't believe that they expect me to purchase a new unit when mine works just fine. It only needs a battery!
