Thomson - GE Electric sells inferior products and wants you to ship them back to be replaced Indianapolis Indiana
My husband and I have purchased a cordless phone from GE(ie Thomson). The purchase was in September 2008 - any time we lose power to the phone, the handsets state that they are 'searching' which means it is searching for the base. We have gone through all the instructions included in the manual (which we had to find on the internet because the only one included with the phone was in Spanish). All we could find that works for this is unplugging the phone and the battery and leaving it unplugged for days at a time and then plugging it back in. This is really inconvenient. We live in the country and the power goes out a lot. I emailed Thomson-GE to ask for a better solution and have not ever received a response. Today I called them. They walk me through all the steps I've ever done(which I mention to the woman I spoke with) and determine that I should pay to send it to them to replace it. I have to spend my money which I have precious little of, to send them a crappy phone that they made and I paid over 80 dollars for, just for them to send me another one of the same model. And the worst insult yet was the woman I spoke to didn't even speak clear English. Customer disservice at its finest here. I don't reccommend this company for anything.
My personal piece of advice to Thomson-GE:
If a product that your company made does not work, you should accept responsibility for it and service it. You should pay the shipping costs when an item has to be returned to you. Maybe then you would actually see how many items your company flubs up on. Perhaps there would also be more pride in craftmanship to help keep your quality high.
