I purchased a DVD recorder from Walmart. & months later it quit working. So, I called Thomson to get a replacement. They promised to send one (lie) and
said it would take 6 to 8 weeks. I waited but no unit or phone call.

I called again, this time they said there were no more replacements available. So I asked for a refund. They told me to send the unit back to them and they would issue me a check, 6 to 8 weeks after receiving the unit. The unit was received at their El Paso, Texas location, which they acknowledged. So, once again I waited but no check came.

In December of 2007 they informed me that they had sent me a check. However, I have never received it and told them so. They then said they would expedite the case to locate the check.

I have called them every week since and to no avail. I am out the refund and the DVD recorder. Today, I discovered the Ripoff Report and found others in
the same situation. Perhaps a class action lawsuit is needed. I will be calling them every day from this day forward and I hope others will too. I have also
contacted Walmart and will do so again until they get sick of hearing from me.

I think you've been shafted by Thompson. However in your title you said you've written letters to Walmart.

I'm just curious why you would do that. Unless you had the extended warranty, then Walmart is no longer involved in your situation.

If you have a big hearted Store Manager like we do at my store, you could call him/her and explain, but they would be helping you out completely on their own. They would also be taking a loss on the product.

I also think you might contact BBB or something like that and complain.

Good luck.
