Complaint Review: Thrifftys car rental

 When in Florida we used Sawgrass expressway which is toll to get from Delray beach to Sawgrass mill. We use this almost every time we come to Florida and the charges are usually around $1US each way. Apparently they stopped collecting cash toll charges for this route and now bill automatically to the license plate. No one at rental agency at Ft. Lauderdale airport warned us about that so when we traveled on Sawgrass expressway we noticed that there are now signs stating that the cost of $1.19 (each way) will be now charged to the license owner plus admin charges. So since it wasn't a significant amount we were not really concerned so when we returned the car we reported these upcoming toll charges to the agent. We were shocked to find out that the admin charge for each way will be $15US (while the actual toll charge was $1.19US). We contacted Thrifty head office and tried to get some explanation why would they charge this exuberant amount for admin when all they did was to pay the tall (of $1.19US) and collect it from my VISA but they were adamant  that the charges were well warranted although no one could explain to us what they were for.

We think people should be aware of this rip-off practice by Thrifty car rental so they can avoid being ripped off or at least are prepared for these charges.
