I would not recommend anyone to use this company. I had a vehicle in 2004 that was financed through Tidewater. When I lost my job and was unable to pay, they repo'd the vehicle. They began garnishing my check after I began working. After about 1 1/2 years the garnishment stopped. I thought I had finished paying it off. About a year later they began garnishing my check again ( I worked for another company at this time). They stopped garnishing a year or so later (again). I thought surely I must be finished paying this vehicle off. But no, another couple of years down the line they began garnishing my check again.  After a few months, Tidwater sent me a refund check and they stopped garnishing. I knew that I had about $500 more dollars to pay to them, so I thought they must have made a mistake and had taken more than they should have. I called the company (that was a mistake). The man who answered the phone was very rude and unhelpful. I told him that I wanted something in writing to say that I no longer owed them money. I was told that he could not send me anything until he investigated and he did not know why I was sent a refund check. Needless to say, he never called me back nor did I receive a letter. To my surprise, just today they have begun garnishing my check again. No one notified me of this garnishment, just like in the past. They do not make you aware of this. They just start taking money from your check. Now Tidewater is saying that I owe them over $700, but when they stopped garnishing the last time it was a lesser amount. Do NOT trust them. There should be something that stops companies like these from garnishing a person's check whenever they feel like it!

How do you know FOR SURE how much you owe? How do you know they are not taking more than they have the right to? The only official amount is what is written in the judgement. You need to get to the courthouse and get a copy of the judgement, if you don't have one, then see how much has been deducted so far and only then will you know where you stand on this. Don't rely on their figures.

First of all, you must not have read everything I wrote. I don't have a problem paying what I owe. I have a problem with how this company handles their business. They have stopped and started this process so many times that it is ridiculous. Obviously, they can't get it together. By the way, I walk when I feel like it. I've always had more than one vehicle to rely on. Thank you for your opinion.

For them to garnish your wages, they would have filed suit in court and obtained judgement against you. You would have received papers from the court all along the way. The judgement would have told you EXACTLY what the amount was to be. What does that paperwork say? You don't know, do you? How do you know the amount is correct? They no doubt sued you for the remaining loan amount, interest, repo fees, court costs and attorney fees. Since you don't have the slightest clue as to how much the judgement is for, you have zero idea as to whether or not they are screwing you. Yet, you're quick to bad mouth them. Next time, learn to pay your bills on time and this won't happen. Enjoy your walking.
