I returned a laptop the same day it arrived that did not have the advertised operating system installed - it was a "special operating system for refurbished laptops" - called "customer support" - no help- referred me to the "tech support"- tech support's response was "gee first time we had that happen, call Microsoft, they will help you". Review of my phone bill shows that these calls are billed to my phone - strange they are 800 and 866 prefix numbers. Help desk response - "There are a lot people calling our customer service department and they are not charge for the call. It seems that the number you are calling is not the toll free customer service number but the technical support number. If you wish to call us toll free, you would need to call the toll free number 1-800-800-8300. Sincerely, Nick, TigerDirect.com Web Response " after receiving a copy of the charges on my phone bill showing the number stated above resulted in charges to my phone.
This is in addition to having recently purchased RAM upgrades for a second laptop that failed after just a couple of months and resulted in diagnostic fees and replacement costs just short of $200.00.
Stay local with any computer purchases, Tiger Direct is only interested in your credit card number and a sale. As I replied to the No Help/Help desk person:"You just don't get it - you flip me off over $10.80 in phone charges after several years of transactions. Brilliant marketing and customer service." Stay away from this company; cheap products that will cost you additional money in the long run, it will happen to you, too.

Our 800-800-8300 phone number is in fact a TOLL FREE number, no phone charges will be incurred other than what your phone provider might incur. We issued you a return authorization on the day that you contacted us and our records indicate a full refund was issued on 6/25/09 back to your credit card and should have posted into your account by now.
