Complaint Review: TigerDirect.com

TigerDirect.com Rebate Rip-Off Naperville Illinois

I specifically bought a 1GB USB Flash Drive from Tiger Direct in January 2007 because they were offering two Rebates. I received my product on January 10th, filled out the correct forms and sent them in on January 11th.

To qualify for the rebate the form said that "Requests for rebate must be postmarked within 30 days from purchase date." According to the Invoice I received, the purchase date was January 4, 2007 and the date I mailed them back was January 11, 2007.

Today in the mail I received a postcard that said that my rebate was invalid because "Postmark date does not fall within program dates". Knowing that it COULD NOT possibly take the postal system 30 27 days to deliver an envelope, I called the Rebate Centers toll free number. After waiting on hold for 14 minutes, I was finally put through to "Nick" who infomred me that my rebate envelope was received on FEBRUARY 11, 2007 - four days after the rebate period expiration. I told Nick that that was virtually impossible and could they send me a copy of the postmakred envelope. Nick said that NO, they could not and would not do that. I then asked to speak to a Manager. Nick told me that there was no Manager available and I COULD NOT hold for one. I asked Nick for the name of a Manager so that I could write a complaint - Nick told me that he did not have to provide me with that information. I asked for an address tosend in a complaint - Nick said NO.

So, it is my firm belief that TigerDirect and the Rebate Center that they use, defraud consumers from their rebates by using false excuses to deny rebate claims and then refusing to back up their denials with any proof. They use the ploy of receiving a rebate to get customers to buy their products and then deny your rebate claims so that they don't have to send them the money.

This company should be ASHAMED of their lowly business practices. I will NEVER buy from or recommend that anyone else I know buys from TigerDirect again.

Adela -

The order number of my original purchase is: #I708762001013
The claim ID that was denied is: 36006560

Please note that I submittted two (2) rebates on the exact same day. One of them was denied ($15.00) the other was approved ($20.00).

Thank you for your help.
